ロリンズ自身の作曲の１曲目「セント・トーマス」や４曲目の「モリタート」（三文オペラの主題曲）が有名だが、名演と分かるものの、ちょっと明るすぎて、ジャズの哀愁といったものが感じられない。むしろ２曲目の「あなたは愛について知らない」３曲目の「ストロード・ライド」５曲目「ブルーセヴン」にジャズを感じる。トミーフラナガンのピアノ、マックス・ローチのドラム、ダグ・ワトキンスのベースの超名演、ルディー・ヴァン・ゲルダーの録音のよさについては今さら、言うまでもない。ただ、紙ジャケだからといって高価になるのは、いかがなものだろうか。（松本敏之）
