1966年ヴェトナム戦争のさなか、日本の横田米軍基地内のアメリカン・スクールに、ひとりの日本人少女・小夜（声・工藤夕貴）が転校してきた。彼女の正体は、闇に生き暗躍するヴァンパイア・キラーであった…。『イノセンス』などの押井守監督が催す「押井塾」に寄せられた企画の中から成立し、若手クリエイターたちが集結して描いたヴァイオレンス・ホラー・アニメ。英語台詞が大半を占める設定など無国籍感覚の中、政治思想的な要素もチラチラ首をもたげつつ、セーラー服に日本刀といったいでたちで顔立ちも個性的な少女がハードなアクションを展開していく。そこには世界中を唸らせるエンタテインメントの妙味があり、中篇ながらも満足感の高い好篇に仕上がっている。残酷だが美しい映像センスにも、さすが世界に誇る日本アニメの勢いと貫禄をみせつけてくれた。後に本作をもとにしたTVアニメも製作されている。（増當竜也）
