私が使用しているのは、SX-2000U2ではなく、SX-2000WGですが、無線に対応している以外は同じなので、使用感を書いて見ます。
自宅でデスクトップとノートとでLANを組んで、そこにこのUSBデバイスサーバをつなげ、EPSONのインクジェットプリンタ、Brotherのデジタル複合機、SONYのFDD、BuffaloのHDDを接続しています。2台のパソコンからストレスなく各USBデバイスにアクセスでき、非常に快適です。プリンタに接続する場合は、自動で接続・切断を行う設定をすることもできます。
複数のパソコンから、複数のUSBデバイスにアクセスする必要のある方には本当にお勧めできます。

複合プリンタ（EPSON PM-A890）を２台あるMac(G4:Mac OS 10.3.9)で使用したくて購入しました。有線LANのSX2000U2を選択しました。Mac用のドライバソフトは同封されていませんが、Silex社Japan Siteのホームページからダウンロードして使用できます。直接USB接続して使用している感覚でプリンタ、スキャナ、カードリーダとして使用できました。プリンタ自動切り替え機能も可能です。USB2.0ハブをつないでHi Speed USB接続としてBuffalo DVSM-34242IU2も使用できました。なかなかよいと思います。2006年11月には0S 10.4.xのIntel Macに対応したようです。

僕はこんな感じを想定して買いました。
■ルータ
├[有線]SX2000U2─[有線]USBの外付けHDD
├[有線]デスクトップPC
├[無線]ノートPC
└[無線]ノートPC
このLANで3つのPCから自由に外付けHDDにアクセスできるという想定で。

しかし、この製品では「自由に」アクセスはできません。
例えばデスクトップPCが外付けHDDに接続していると、他のPCではそのHDDには接続できません。
デスクトップPCで「切断」の処理をし、さらに他のPCで「接続」の処理をしないといけないのです。
要するに「USBの配線を別のPCに繋ぎなおす」という作業をPC上で行うだけです。
また、HDD内の動画などを直接開くには回線が遅く、途切れ途切れになります。
(これは環境にもよるかもしれませんが・・・)

なので、上記のような使い方の場合は、少しお金を足してLAN対応の外付けHDDを買った方が通信速度も速くていいと思います。

無線でUSB機器に接続できるのは魅力ですが、けっこう高い製品なのでご参考までに。
