 『ゴースト』でアカデミー賞をとったウーピー・ゴールドバーグが、今度はコメディーに挑戦した。92年、全米で6か月を超えるロングランを記録した大ヒット作である。
   殺人現場を目撃してしまったクラブ歌手のデロリスは、ギャングに命をねらわれるはめになる。デロリスが身を隠した場所は、お堅い修道院。最初はおとなしく隠れていたが、聖歌隊のリーダーになって本領を発揮。ヘタクソなコーラスがソウルやロックのリズミカルな賛美歌に変わり、街中で評判になってテレビ中継までされてしまった。だが、それにギャングが気づかないわけがない。デロリスの無事は…。
   敬けんなシスターたちが、デロリスの指揮にのせられてノリノリでゴスペルを歌う姿は、まさにアメリカ発のゴスペルの奥の深さを実感できるシーンだ。最後はちょっとほろりとするヒューマンコメディーでもある。（梅澤眞由美）

私がコレを観たのは中学生の時。最高に面白いと思いました。
それから１５年、色々映画を観てきて涙が止まらないもの、笑えるものも沢山あったけど、１位を挙げるとしたらやっぱりこれです。
落ち込んだ時もちょっと疲れたときも楽しい気分の時も、多分もう１００回は観たんじゃないかなあ。
とにかく楽しい！ウーピーも良いですが、マギー･スミスも素晴らしい。
マギー･スミスは「ハリーポッター」でマクゴナガル先生を演じている人です。
尼さんズとの交流、カジノのショーガールでマフィアの愛人のデロリスと、厳格で品行方正、
ハメなど外した事のない敬虔な修道院長（マギー・スミス）との友情と絆、そして歌・歌・歌！
巷のゴスペルスクールとかでは「天使に・・２」の「Oh,Happy day」がよく歌われていますが、歌もストーリーも「１」の方が面白いし楽しい、と私は思います。
「ばーさん達が賛美歌歌う映画やろー」「ウーピーってあの眉がない人やろー」とか思っているかた、絶対損はしないから１回みてみて欲しい！楽しすぎるから〜！！

何も考えずに見ても、何回見ても楽しめる作品です。
とにかくメインとなるシスター達の歌が最高。
へたっぴだったのがうまくなっていくのがまたよいです。

作ってから結構経ちますが、いつみても元気が出てきます。
大人子供関係なく楽しめる映画だと思いますよ。

古い作品ながらも、心から楽しめる映画。
犯罪王国、とも言われるアメリカが実は心から欲してやまない「良心」の結晶として生まれた作品のように思います。
誰だって、笑って生きたいもんね。
