従来路線とは一線を画し、Steve Jordan（Dr）、Pino Palladino（B）の強力なサポートにより、そのギタリストとしての技量を存分に発揮したBlues Rock Trioの（パーマネントグループとしての活動に願いを込めて）デビュー・ライブ・アルバム。　ここでの彼の演奏からはJimi HendrixやStevie Ray Vaughanの影響を受けていることも、その系譜を継承するに足る才能と感じることもできる。　GRAMMYでBest Male Pop Vocal Performanceを受賞した彼も魅力的ではあるが、願わくばこのトリオでの活動の継続を、更にできることであればStevieを長年支えたDouble Trouble - Chris Layton(Dr) Tommy Shannon(B）との共演を、などと夢見てしまうのはノスタルジーに過ぎるだろうか。

John MayerがドラムスにSteve Jordan、ベースにPino Palladinoを迎えた強力なトリオによる強力なライブ盤。シンガーとしてのJohn Mayerはその渋い声にも定評があるところであるし、ここでもその魅力は十分に楽しめるが、本盤で更に注目すべきなのが、Mayerのギタリストとしての手腕である。これだけ「歌って弾ける」プレイヤーはなかなかいるものではないし、優れたテクニックをさりげなく聞かせる手腕が素晴らしい。収録された曲はブルージーで渋い曲が多く、爆発的なポピュラリティを得るのは難しいかもしれないが、John Mayerの諸作の中でも、評者としては最も興奮した。Steve Jordanのスネアの響きが軽いのは相変わらずであるが、バンドとしてはタイトなまとまりを示していて素晴らしい。

ケースはシンプルな二つ折り紙ジャケット。ライナーが印刷されていますが、ライヴ盤なので、もちろん歌詞はついていません。
ジョン・メイヤーが以前リリースした二枚組ライヴ盤『エニイ・ギヴン・サーズデイ』と比べると、柔和なアコースティック・フォーク色が薄れ、音が削ぎ落とされています。硬派のスリー・ピース・ロック・バンドの力強い演奏が聴けます。また、『エニイ〜』に入っていた、ジョンをアイドル視した女性ファンによる黄色い声援もたぶんあまり入っていません。かぎりなくスタジオ録音に近く、演奏中心にミキシングされているはずです。そして、『エニイ〜』がちょっと緩く長ったらしく聞こえたのとちがって、約１時間、渋く緊密なブルース‐ロックが聞けます。すばらしい。
