   Braun（ブラウン）社によるこのアラームクロックは、1987年のグッドデザイン賞ほか数々の賞を受賞したヒット作「AB1」を、さらにコンパクトにした製品だ。シンプルで無駄のない、それでいてどこかオシャレな色遣いのデザインはさすがBraunと言いたくなる。

   一見単なる直方体のように見えて、正面がわずかに傾斜しているために文字盤が見やすかったり、アラームスイッチを押し下げると、アラーム音のための穴をフタする構造になっているあたりの機能性も、「AB1」からしっかり受け継がれている。

   ちょっと見ただけなら、似たような他社製品がどこにでも転がっているような印象を受けるかもしれないが、実際に手にとって使ってみれば、そのディティールの良さに感じ入ってしまう。そんな一品だ。（櫻田もんがい）

非常に小さい時計でどこにおいても邪魔にならず、それでいて、文字盤は黒、白、黄というはっきり見分けられる色からなっているため、小さくても見やすい。
秒針の音はほぼ無音で、深夜の静かな部屋でも全く聞こない。

だが、目覚まし時計としては使えない。
私の所持しているものが偶々そうなのかわからないが、アラームを設定しても鳴らないことがあり、信用できない。
アラームの設定も、前にもっていた別の時計は10分刻みで設定時刻が切り替わるタイプだったが、AB1Aはアナログ式なので「6:30にセットしたい」というときに目測でセットするしかない。
時計が小さいために、これが神経を使う仕事になる。
また、見た目にぴったりの位置に設定したつもりでも、実際にアラームが鳴る時刻が5分ぐらい違うので、正確なアラーム時刻が設定できない。

コンパクトな卓上時計としては秀逸なので、その用途で使っているが、目覚まし時計は別途他の製品を検討しようと思う。

購入してすぐ動かなくなったのでお店で交換してもらいましたが、今度はアラームの針がハズレてしまいました。
また再度交換していただきましたが、アラームが鳴らなかったり、たまに止まったり、目覚まし時計としては
まったく信頼出来ません。デザインは素晴らしいのに残念です。

一日に何度も止まるので修理しようかとも思いましたが国産品を\1,000-で買いました。
