2005 studio album that reflects the multi-national character of the group; the songs are not all sung in English, but drift between Spanish, English and Italian. However they are worded, all use the emotional Esperanto of love. The group's debut album, IL Divo hit the #1 slot on both Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com after a breakout career-defining appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" (April 5, 2005) where the quartet performed its interpretation of Toni Braxton's Unbreak My Heart (Regressa A Mi). Highlights on Ancora include 'Isabel' a duet with Celine Dion and IL Divo's cover of Mariah Carey's 'Hero'. Two of the tracks on this CD O Holy Night and Ave Maria appear on the 2005 US only release, Christmas Collection. Sony. 2005.

前作に続き、非常に魅力に溢れた作品で、贅沢な時間を提供してくれます。

収録曲の多くは、他のミュージシャンもさまざまに表現していますが、
男性４人の表現だと「こんな風になるのだ！」っと、今までとはまた
ひと味違った世界を味わえます。
男性だけのハーモニー！時に雄々しく、時にこれでもかと言うくらい甘く…。
どの曲も、彼らの個性がたっぷり満喫できるアレンジになっています。
耳慣れた曲である筈が、まるで彼らの為に作られた新曲ではないかと思うくらいに…。

そして楽しみがもうひとつ。
CELINE DIONがI BELIEVE IN YOUで参加。
（同時に彼女のアルバムにIL DIVOが参加している。）
彼女が入ることで、他の曲とは別の世界を楽しむことができる。
収録曲の中でもお薦めの１曲。

…残念なのは、母国語以外が苦手な為、歌詞を理解することが難しいところ。
Englishならまだしも、Spanish, French, Italianで歌い上げられている
世界の大きさに、マイッタ！

ともあれ、彼らの表現力は抜群で、是非手元に１枚おいておく
ことをお薦めしたい。

いつもなら、ライナーノーツを読むのも楽しみの一つなので日本版を買う。しかし、今回は待ちきれずUK盤を買ってしまった。
なので、勝手な解釈をさせていただくと・・・。
デビュー盤との比較で言えば、選曲、プロデュース、各メンバーの歌い方、すべてが、よりイモーショナルになった。特にオペラ出身のデイヴィッドのソロはもともと美しかったが、加えて優しく甘くなった感じ。セバスチャンのソロは相変わらずセクシーで、ウルスのソロは穏やか、カルロスはハーモニーに安定感を与えている。
一曲目でエアーポケットに落ち、前回と同様にポップスでありながらオペラを連想させる独特の世界が広がる。
「アイ・ビリーブ・イン・ユー」では、2コーラス目にセリーヌ・ディオンがフランス語でソロをとったあと4人のハーモニーが加わるあたりでは、背中がゾクゾクする。
「オール・バイ・マイセルフ」はセリーヌ・ディオンも数年前に歌っているが、世紀の歌姫と言えども、4対1では、さすがに彼らの奥行きのあるバージョンには及ばない。
「アンチェインド・メロディー」は聴き覚えのあるきれいな曲なのだが、誰が歌っていたか思い出せない。
どの曲ももちろん素晴らしいのだが、個人的好みで言えば、スペイン語の「IZABEL」と「SI TU ME AMAS」が気に入っている。特に後者は、アコースティックギターの哀愁を帯びた音色に、彼らの交代でとるソロが切なく響く。思わず何度も聴いてしまう。まあアルバム全体がそういう感じなのだが・・・。

前作とともに何と表現したらいいか言葉さえ見つからない程。素晴らしい！この言葉よりもっと気高く上質な表現がないだろうかとさえ思えます。普通どんなに有名な人のアルバムを聞いても、いらない曲が必ずありますが、不思議と見つからない。幅広いリメイク曲の数々。特に今回はオールバイマイセルフ、アンチェインドメドレー、アランフェスなど
彼らの手にかかったらもう、まるでリメイクなんてものではなく、まるでファンタジーの世界。今まで私の集めたアルバムの中で間違いなく「ザ・ベストアルバム」。イルディーヴォに心を奪われました。
