1971年8月1日、バングラデシュの難民救済を目的として開かれた「The Concert For Bangladesh」。
ジョージ・ハリソンの呼びかけに応え、ボブ・ディラン、リンゴ・スター、エリック・クラプトン等の大物ミュージシャンが、最高のパフォーマンスを披露してくれた。
レコードレーベルを超えて開催されたこのチャリティ・イベントは、正に伝説であり、その後の多くのライブに影響を与えた。

本作は、以前に発売されたライブCD「Concert for Bangladesh [FROM US] [IMPORT]」を超える、最新デジタル・リマスター、新装パッケージの2枚組CDである。

ジョージの名曲「Here Comes the Sun」と「While My Guitar Gently Weeps」はライブ初披露。更にボーナス・トラックとしてボブ・ディランの「Love Minus Zero/No Limit 」を収録。必聴である。

妻のオリビアの話だと生前にジョージがリマスターしたものらしいですね。
DVDとあわせて発売するため、リマスターCDの方が先に仕上がっていたけどリリースを見合わせていたそうです。
使命感に燃えているジョージのプレイがファンにとっては嬉しいです。

１５年程前に発売されたCDと比べるのもおこがましいですが
音質が大幅に良くなりバンドサウンドがくっきり聴けて迫力が増しました。
特に大所帯バンド演奏の映える曲wah-wahで
その違いをはっきり認識しました。

ジョージの曲では弾き語りのhere comes the sunが特に好きですが
ホーンがかっこいいwah-wah、レオン・ラッセルとのデュエットbeware of darkness、
somethingが好きです。
このコンサート用の新曲Bangladeshは今ひとつか…

ジョージ以外ではビリー・プレストンのthat's the way~が前半の大きな盛り上がりとなっていますし
ラヴィ・シャンカールの演奏にはインド音楽とはいえ圧倒されました。

名演として知られるディランの演奏はどれもとても良いです。
本作でのたたずまいは他のライブと比べても特にかっこいいと思います。

リマスターと銘打ってある本作，実はリミックスで，旧ＬＰ・ＣＤはもちろん同時に出たＤＶＤの音声（これもリミックスだが）のいずれとも異なるミックスになっています。
