フジテレビ・2005年11月25日放送「越路吹雪・愛の生涯~命尽きるまで私は歌う」に併せてリリースの決定盤ベスト・アルバム。代表曲は全て網羅し、高音質デジタル・リマスターしての発売。

【プロフィール】
1924年生まれ。以降宝塚歌劇団、映画、ミュージカル,リサイタルなどで活躍し押しも押されぬ「スター」に。シャンソンをメインに岩谷時子の訳詞による外国曲のカヴァーでヒット曲を多数生んだ。1980年11月7日、惜しまれつつ早すぎる逝去。

これまでのベスト盤に比べたら、音質が遥かに良い。
それだけで、既出のアルバム持ってる人も持ってない人も、「買い」です。

「夢の中に君がいる」や「サン・トワ・マミー」は別テイクなのか、
リミックスしてるのか、今までとは少し違う仕上がりになってます。
24bitリマスタリングの成せる業でしょうか。

願わくば、岩谷時子氏による各曲の解説が欲しかったかな。
（東芝EMIの公式ページにありますが）

越路物語をテレビで見ました。情熱的に見えて、実はとてもシャイであったとうことにも驚きました。ところで、番組のエンディングで放送されていた「愛の讃歌」は昭和28年（1953年）の録音のものとは違うと思いました。その頃はコロンビアに所属していたのと、昭和資料館で聞いた際は日本蓄音機（コロンビア）の音源となっていました。
現在、このオリジナルを聞けるのは「ラ・ムール〜フランス・ベスト」というCD。すでに、こちらのCDを聞いていたので、番組のバージョンに
違和感を覚えただけかもしれませんけれど、このオリジナルは、
一度お聞きになるのをお勧めします。ボーカルの表現力と切なさは、その頃録音の風情もほどよい作用を施してドラマと似た感動を覚えました。

ドラマの中の歌唱シーンは迫力・表現力がかなり不足していたことで
不評を買っていますが、それでも楽曲の魅力を少しでも感じられた方は
このアルバムを聴かれることをお勧めします。

なぜ越路さんが周りの人々を惹きつけ、あれほどまでに大衆に支持され
たのか。ドラマを見た限りではピンとこなかったのですが、ＣＤを聴いて
納得しました。

やはり、本物は格が違います。
