メジャー第2弾CD。曲によってイギー&ザ・ストゥージズ、ニルヴァーナ、ウィーザーを思い出す音だが、日本語の歌が前面に出たメロディアスな(3)(4)が一番ヴォーカルも演奏も素直に聴こえるし艶っぽくて好き。いいものがまだ眠っていると思うから頑張れ!

今年4月にドラマーの山口美代子がメンバーに加わった新生detroit7。今年7月の『detroit7 EP Vol.1』に続く2枚目のEPである本作は、SUMMER SONIC、RISING SUNといった全国各地のロック・フェスでのライヴを経たことで、タイトにまとまりつつあるバンドの今を伝える5曲が収録されている。その変化がとくに顕著なのが、ラストの「BUZZ OFF」。この曲はファースト・シングル「COME ON」収録曲を再レコーディングしたものなのだが、原曲と比較すると、グルーヴ感が飛躍的に増していて、踊れるアレンジになっている。そうした傾向は「KISS THE MOON」や「Merry-go-round」にも表われていて、この2曲は4つ打ちのリズムで頭から踊らせにかかっている。そして、驚かされるのが冒頭の「GRACIAS」だ。全員がコーラスをとっていて、踊れるうえに口ずさめるという、これまでの彼らにはなかった要素が盛り込まれており、いよいよ変化の季節を迎えつつあるdetroit7からは目が離せそうもない。 (小野田 雄) --- 2005年12月号
