戦隊シリーズで唯一、女性抜き・３人編成ですが、ヒーローの中の人が当時の三傑。アクションシーンが特別かっこいいシリーズです。
・ヒーローが３人なので、一人一人の殺陣の時間が長い。しかもけっこう危険な場所ですごい技を見せてくれます。
・動物を模した名乗りと見得がかっこいい。あとの巻になりますが、サンバルカン体操もすてき。
・怪人も雑魚兵もアクションがんばってます。へドリアン女王や悪役陣もノリノリ。
・脚本もよい。子供番組なのでさらっと流していますが、けっこう考えさせられる重いテーマもあったりします。
・主題歌は名曲です。大きな声で歌いましょう。

1981年から1982年に放送されたスーパー戦隊シリーズ第5作目「太陽戦隊サンバルカン」のDVD第1巻が登場です!!この巻には第1話「北極の機械帝国」〜第10話「待ちぶせ毒ぐも館」までの10話が収録されています。大鷲龍介/バルイーグル(演:川崎龍介さん)鮫島欣也/バルシャーク(演:杉欣也さん)豹朝夫/バルパンサー(演:小林朝夫さん)の3人がサンバルカンのメンバーです。途中交代劇があるものの全編通して3人メンバーなのはシリーズ中サンバルカンのみであり、女戦士がいないのも特徴です。ただし、サポート役として嵐山美佐(演:根本由美さん)がヒロインとして位置付けされます。また、デンジマンからの正当な続編として作られているため設定に引き継がれた部分があったり、ヘドリアン女王(演:曽我町子さん)が引き続き出演するのはファンにはたまりません!!

他の戦隊ものがどんどんソフト化される中で、なぜか取り残されていた「サンバルカン」が、ついにＤＶＤで発売されます。
Vol.1は、１~１０話までですが、見所はなんと言っても８話「父が歌う手まり唄」でしょう！
敵に捕まったミサの救出に、一人で向かった嵐山長官。
向けられたマシンガンの前で幼いころのミサを思い、毬をつきながら子守唄を歌う嵐山長官。
しかし無情にもマシンガンは発射される！どうなる嵐山長官！！
今見ても色あせないこの頃の名作は、大人が見ても楽しめる作品に仕上がっています。
是非、今の子供達にも見せてあげたい作品の１つです。
