ディーヴァ系ヴォーカルとR&B~ヒップホップ色濃い生演奏とを組み合わせたユニット。このサードではオリエンタル風味やディープ・ハウス風など新機軸が加わり、曲の振幅性がより広くなった印象。特にRingのヴォーカルはより艶やかになり表現力が高まっている。

一つのジャンルを超越し、まさに心に訴えかける楽曲となった先行シングル(2)。クラシカルに響くピアノと歌のイントロを聴いた瞬間からあちらの世界へと連れ去られていってしまうようなこのナンバーをはじめ、彼らのサード・アルバムにはどことなく祈りにも通じるような歌世界が見受けられる。R&Bやヒップホップの世界にはめずらしいバンド編成であることから、“国内唯一のR&Bバンド”とも評されているが、この新作ではもはやバンドという一つの形態にとらわれることもなく、必要とあらばプログラミングのみで構成されている曲もある。その生演奏と打ち込みのバランス感覚が絶妙なゆらぎを起こしており、聴き手はそのゆらぎのなかを心地よく泳ぎまわることができる。彼らの音楽に共通する感性は意外にも繊細かつオーガニックで、どの楽曲も驚くほど聴きやすい。かといってけっして耳に心地いいだけでなく、R&Bやヒップホップの美味しいところを見事に消化しきっているセンスの良さがキラリと光る。 (高橋宏文) --- 2005年12月号

VoVoTauの魅力って、１ｓｔで魅せたアコースティック・ソウルという新鮮さでした。
ブラック・ミュージックをルーツとした、いろんな音楽のMix具合が最高で、「裸〜Nude〜」は名曲でした。

しかしながら、2ndでの微妙な路線変更を経て3rdでは1stとちょっと変わってきた気がします。
1stで感じたアコースティック・ソウルなものからhiphop寄りになった気がします。

ちょっと差別化が薄れたような気がしますので、1stの流れを期待した方にはちょっと期待はずれになってしまうかもしれません。
進化を遂げていくのは大いに結構ですが、規定路線に合わせていくと結局は他と一緒になってしまう。
1stで築いた路線を守っていくのが「らしさ」という魅力じゃないだろうか。
