　オープニングトラック"Song For Our Fathers"、荒廃した無人の街を一人きりで彷徨うかのような物悲しい旋律を奏でるバスラインと、単音ギターのフレーズが絡み合う。その寂寞の音風景の中、取り残された獣の悲痛な咆哮を思わせるフィードバックノイズとともに、トレモロギターのほの暗いメロディが空間を震わせる。初期GY!BEに大きく通ずるものを感じる楽曲だ。Tr.3"Magic Hours"では、2nd/3rdアルバムでは聴くことのできないムーディーなスケールをなぞるベースが序盤を飾り、高みへと向かう積上げ式のクリアディレイギターが煌く中盤を経て再びトーンダウン、EITS十八番の鼓笛隊ドラミングにより再上昇し、粗い粒子のフィードバックノイズ、ディストーションが炸裂するクライマックスへと展開していく。一転、Tr.4"Look Into The Air"では、近年の作風に近い柔らかな質感のギターフレーズが緩やかに揺蕩い、木漏れ日にも似た柔らかな音のベールで空間を満たしていく。そして本作中最も激しい展開を見せるTr.6"Time Stops"、穏やかな立ち上がりを見せる導入部に続き、さり気なく挟み込まれる絶妙のチェロストリングスを経て滑らかに転調・加速。流麗なギターアルペジオの上に叩き鳴らされるハイハットの破片が降り注ぎ、それらを飲み込むように吹き荒れるディストーションギターが、連続して劇的な瞬間を生み出していく。

　デビュー作ということもあり、GY!BEやMOGWAIといった先達の影響を色濃く感じる瞬間は確かにある。が、Tr.2で立ち現れる、琴線を鷲掴みにするような単音ギターの響き・放ち方などには、既にして非凡なものがありありと窺える。これまでの作品が好きな人は勿論、まだEITSの音に触れたことの無い人にもオススメできる良盤です。

印象は、(2nd+3rd)/2。

怒濤と静謐、そのどちらかを突出させていった結果が、
2nd(Those Who...) であり 3rd(The Earth...)であったように感じる。
完成度、練度という意味では、この 1st はとても荒削りだが、
美しさの中にちょっと無邪気なポップさが混じっていたりして、
大変楽しい。当然、曲の美しさに遜色はない。
2nd 3rdのどちらかが気に入った人なら、確実に気に入ると思う。

あと、どちらも好きな人なら、こんなレビュー読む前に買っていると思う。
