   16世紀初頭、朝鮮王朝の時代。幼い頃に両親を亡くしたチャングムは、母の遺志を継いで宮廷の料理人となる。やがて陰謀に巻き込まれ追放の憂き目にあうが、彼女はそこから医学の道を究め……。史実にも名を残す実在の女性をモデルにした、韓国版大河ドラマといった趣の時代劇作品だ。主演は映画『JSA』でもその美しさが印象的だったイ・ヨンエ。
   謀略渦巻く宮廷の中で、それでも真心を重んじ、自らの力で人生を切り開いていくチャングムの姿が快い。誠実な語り口にほどよいケレン味が加わった物語運びも実に絶妙。次から次へとチャングムにふりかかる苦難と、その顛末から目が離せなくなる。
本作は本国・韓国でも大ヒットし、宮廷料理ブームを起こしたという。食や東洋医学に関するエピソードを通じて、韓国文化の奥深さも知ることができる傑作だ。（安川正吾）

テレビで見始めましたが野球等で時間が不規則な時があったり、うっかり見逃してしまったりで思い切って全巻購入しました。
豆知識やインタヴュー・まじめな時代劇にしては珍しいNG集もあって、本当に価値あるDVD-BOXだと大満足しています。特に最終回16〜18は毎日どれかを見るくらいハマっています。
18の3話は私の中でのベストDVDです。
ミン・ジョンホは実在しませんしドラマですが、チャングムへの深く広い愛情は人間として感動します。
韓国語が大好きになって勉強したいと思っています。時代劇は言い回しが独特だったりするので教材にするのは奨励しないといわれますが、『チャングムの誓い』は、普段の話し言葉に近く、（だから韓国の若い人達にも人気が出たそうです）後から会話のCDを聴くと耳慣れたフレーズが出てきて嬉しくなります。（私の場合、英語と違ってとにかく聴き込まないと中々覚えられません）

ガイド本で「ドラマ制作途中で内容が変わった」とありましたが、本当に良く練られた脚本に関心しました。

BS放送時にチャングムにはまりまくり、DVD購入。当然全編ノーカットと思いきや
（DVD化するときのお約束かと…）最終回のみノーカットであるということに大変
憤りを感じつつ、でもまぁしょうがないかと思っていたら。
NHKってば、ノーカット字幕版の、チャングム完全版なんて放送しはじめて！　
大枚はたいてDVDボックスそろえた私たちに、なんていう仕打ちでしょうか。
これなら地道に完全版を録画すれば、その方がよかったかもしれず……。
そんなわけで、チャングムには満足でも、NHK憎し、で星ふたつけずりました。

日本語版ＤＶＤは、肝心なところまでなぜかカットしてしまって、とても残念。ＴＶでは放送時間の関係でカットせざるをえなくても、ＤＶＤならノーカットで収録できると思うんですが。
ミン・ジョンホが無事牢屋から解放された直後にチャングムと会う感動的なシーンが、これに収録されていたらと思います。

カットシーンをチェックするのは、キネマ旬報社から出ているシナリオブックが参考になります。NHK出版が出しているガイドブックも、よくよくチェックすると、放映されていないシーンが載ってたりしますよ。
