イタリアのエピックメタルバンド、ザイ・マジェスティの3rd。今回は前作「Hastings 1066」よりクワイアを減らし、よりパワーメタルに近づいた作品になった。かといってエピックさが減ったかというとそうではなく、ジャンヌダルクのストーリーの映画をパワーメタルで表現した形でありエピックさは減っていない。戦いのシーンなどは聴いているだけで鳥肌がたつほど素晴らしい出来である。ただクワイアはかなり減ったためにラプソディーファンには聞き辛い作品になったかもしれない。またボーカルが変わった(どことなくジャーマンメタル風のボーカル)のでどちらかというとアイアンメイデン系のパワーメタル好きな人がツボかも。オススメは一曲に絞るのは難しい。アルバム全体を通して起承転結のストーリーになっているのでなるべくならば一枚通して聴いてもらいたい。ラプソディーが魔法世界を描いたエピックシンフォニックメタルならば、ザイ・マジェスティは現実世界をシンフォニックに描いたエピックメタルバンドといえるだろう。どちらにしても是非聴いてもらいたい。

イタリアのエピック・シンフォニックメタルバンド、ザイ・マジェスティの3rd。

傑作だった前作「Hastings 1066」に続き、今作も歴史もの、フランス伝説の聖女、ジャンヌ・ダルクをテーマにしたコンセプト作だ。
このバンドの場合、たとえばRHAPSODYのようなぱっと聴きの壮大華麗さはないのだが、その分シリアスでシアトリカルな、より映画的な奥行きとドラマ性を感じさせるのがポイント。
そして全体的には、今回はより疾走感とメロパワ風の勢いが感じられ、
メロディックメタルとしての明快さと、ストーリー性を同居させることに成功している。
ときにチャント風のコーラスが荘厳に響き、戦いの場面では勇壮なコーラスと、曲ごとに物語は進行してゆき、聴き手である我々を英仏百年戦争の一場面へといざなってくれる。
Voが交代して、前任者の甘い声質が好きだったのでやや残念だが、アルバムのクオリテには問題なし。
悲劇の乙女ジャンヌ・ダルクの運命を最後まで描ききった力作。これはまさにストーリーメタルである。

これは初めて聴いたのですが、なかなかです。
良い意味で普通の☆3つにしました。

ドイツだけあってメロディセンスがあります。声も太くて伸びる声で聴きやすいですね。ソナタアークティカのトニーカッコみたいに透き通る感じではありませんがジャーマンメタルが好きな人ならば想像はつくと思います。
曲も練っている感じでアルバム全体もシングルがあるって言うよりも、全体で聴くような感じです。
