   コメディーの巨匠メル・ブルックスが監督・主演した『スター・ウォーズ』のパロディー。ヒーローのローン・スターにビル・プルマンのほか、ジョン・キャンディやリック・モラニスらコメディアンが共演している。途中で登場人物たちが、「この先はどうなる？」「そうだレンタル・ビデオで観よう」などという、製作した時代をうかがわせるギャグもある。ブルックス監督作にしては、シニカルな笑いが少なく、その分純粋にパロディーとして愉快に笑える作品に仕上がった。『親指スター・ウォーズ』とともに、『スター・ウォーズ』パロディーの双璧だ。（アルジオン北村）

この価格でこれが発売されるとは！エピソード3効果か!?

ごらんのとおり、スターウォーズのパロディーですが、
その他のSFも随所にちりばめられています。
近眼診断ができるあらすじ、長すぎる宇宙戦艦、大きすぎるヘルメット
パロディーものの王道をいく作品だと思います。
とはいえ、いろいろ忘れているので予約、予約…っと。

スターウォーズを徹底的にパロッてて、すごく好きです。監督本人が必ずどこかに出てくるのは、ヒッチコックと同じで本作は悪の中枢大統領で出演、緑の惑星（ドルイディアから空気を丸ごと奪う計画を立てるがeagle5の船長（ローンスター）の活躍で阻止されてしまう。CGも中々の出来でテロップもスターウォーズそのまま＼(◎o◎)／！DVDが出るのを待ち望んでいました。大爆笑ではないけれど、初期のスターウォーズを思い出すにはもってこいの作品だと思います。ラストでは、猿の惑星もパロッテます。
