   大注目を浴びたセルフタイトルのデビュー作を発表後、1年以上をツアーに費やした。アレックス・カプラノスは細身のタイをもつれさせずに「Take Me Out」を何回歌えたことだろう？ こんなフランツ・フェルディナンドはエッジを少々失うのではないかと予想していた向きもあったかもしれない。ところが、『You Could Have It So Much Better』は、まずい機内食とホテルの冷たいプールに関する傲慢な2枚目のアルバムになるはずだったとしても、マーキュリー・ミュージック・プライズがこのスコットランドの4人組に栄誉を与えたことは、彼らに伝わり損なっていたらしい。フタを開けてみれば、今回のアルバムも熱気に満ちて、心躍るパンク・ポップの曲が目白押しだった。

   シングルの「Do You Want To」、冒頭を飾る政治的な暴徒風の「The Fallen」、素晴らしいサイケデリックなバラードで、ビートルズとボウイの共通点を探っているような「Eleanor Put You Boots On」（地獄の業火にあるエレノア・フリードバーガーを歌ったもの）。まだまだこれからが目を離せないバンドだと証明する、驚くべき自信に満ちたアルバムだ。（Aidin Vaziri, Amazon.com）

僕は普段洋楽をほとんど聴かないのだが、彼らが絶賛されるのがよくわかる気がする。
ＣＭソングとして刷り込まれた「Do You Want To」を筆頭に、ずらりとキャッチーな曲がそろう。しかし、単に売れ筋の美メロを並べただけではない。
メロディもコーラスも、あえてダサかっこいいラインを狙っているようで、妙にひねくれている。聴いていて（いい意味で）「こいつら、馬鹿だなあ」と顔がにやけてしまうくらい、自由奔放な音作りをしていて気持ちいいのだ。

今騒がれているフランツ・フェルディナンドとはどんなもんかしら、と何の先入観もないまま視聴。・・・ん？これは・・かっこいい！！で、即購入でした。

The Fallenから一気に惹き込まれます。ベーシックなロックを保ちながらも前衛的な演奏、洒落っ気のある歌詞にはまってしまいました。兎に角、センスが良いです。ジャケットやファッションにもこだわりが強いみたいです。

Fade Togetherでこのまま静かに終わるかな・・と思ったら Outsidersのイントロでギターのかっこよさに圧巻です。いや、もう相当かっこいいです。

バリバリのロックはちょっとなー、という人にもお勧めですね。

２００５年に１ｓｔをかなりのヘヴィーローテーションで聴いていた私にとってはかなり期待をしていた２ｎｄでした。期待通りの楽曲と他では類をみないギターサウンドは今回も素晴らしい。が！１ｓｔで印象深かった哀愁感ある歌い方やメロディが今回は少なく、何故か一曲一曲のインパクトが少ない様な気がします。ん〜、フランツに哀愁感を求めてはいけないのかな？今作はＰＯＰ＆ダンスミュージックとして星３っつで・・・
