前作の1,2,3曲目がそれぞれタイプの違う超絶な名曲だったのに比べると、この作品の出だしは非常に地味に聞こえる。すんなりと耳に入ってきすぎて、あれこんなもんだっけと思ってしまう。ロディの歌はスミスのような響きも感じられ、ギターサウンドはステレオフォニックスのような広がりを見せているが、やはり成熟というか落ち着いてしまったなという印象を受ける。まあこのバンドの曲はじわじわと体に染み込んでくるタイプなので、聴くたびに良くなっていくとは思うが。相変わらずボーナストラックがいいので、日本盤を是非お勧めする。そして念願の来日を!!

前のアルバムもそうだったんですが、一回目聴いた時の印象はまぁまぁという感じで、それが何回も聴くにつれてじわじわとメロディーなんかが浸透してきて、気づいたら大好きになってるという、スルメなアルバムだと思います。メンバーチェンジで新しいギターリストが加入したんですが、彼のコーラスとロディーの声がすごい相性が良くていい感じでした。全体的に曲調はおだやかになったんですが、一曲目なんかかなりノイズが入っていて音質が荒く、ギターもノイジーで攻撃的で、今までなかった様な積極的なリードプレイも増えた様に感じましたし、けしてUSオルタナな雰囲気は捨ててません。歌い方や声自体が結構クールなんだけど、それがたまに不安定になって感情的になってしまう所が個人的に好き。
