    耽美という点ではググッと深み増したと思います。

    別に角が丸くなったわけじゃなくてDMの真髄って骨組みとなる旋律なんだな、唄なんだな、と私は納得したわけで。
    未だにヨーロッパのライブでは黒服のゴスゴスしたファンが多いのも納得したんですわ。重いです、暗いです、然し美しいのです。

    エレクトロ系のファンには大変ウケの悪い「FOFAD」も美メロとしては究極に近かった。当時はU２と双子のようなアルバム作ったって騒がれましたっけ、アレ。
    先端技術を核にしているのでは無く、おまけのように先端技術がくっついてくる、それがDM。

    解かり易く云うと、ピコピコに重きを置いて先端ポップを求めるのなら、矢張りイレイジャーと思っちゃうんですね（笑。

    哀愁に浸り陶酔したいのなら矢張りデペッシュモード。
    マーティン・ゴアが創り、デイヴ・ガーンが唄を吹き入れている内は、基本が変わることなど無いのだ、と安心させてくれます。

    このクオリティーを継続しながら今に至っているのは「健在」という言葉がぴったりでしょう。
    曲の描く世界が普遍的であるから生き残ったのだと考えます。苦痛や痛みはとても普遍的で、
    真正面から捕らえるからこそ癒しになるのだと思います。

    実はアメリカツアーも見てきました。最後の曲goodnight loversを歌い終わると、
    DavidはMatinの頬にキスするなどお茶目なところも見せていました。
    セットも宇宙船をイメージしたような意外性がありました。

    nord leadである。このアナログシミュレーションシンセサイザを自由自在に扱えるようになって、2nd アルバムのA Broken Frameで早くも見せたような、職人芸的なあの風合いがこういう形で戻ってきた。
    思えば中期のデペッシュモードは、martinの楽曲を最大限生かすためのalan wilderのオーケストレーションだったはずなのだが、アレンジにインパクトが在りすぎて楽曲の良さが霞んでしまっていた。alan本人も言及しているが、martinは作曲家としては過小評価されているのである。
    前作exciterはオルタナティブにコダワりすぎた。前々作ultraはalan wilderの影から抜け出せないリハビリアルバムだった。
    そういった遍歴を経て、ここへきて漸く彼らは本来の姿を取り戻した。
    ここにデペッシュモード第四期完成である。新しい始まりを感じさせるアルバムであり、まだ成長の余地も感じさせる、2005年の超名盤である。
