オーソドックスなビッグバンドのサウンドをバックに、いつものダイアナ・クラールの世界が。

ビッグバンドそのもののアレンジもちょっと聴くだけでは古くさい感じがしますが、よくよく聴いてみると所々に新しさが薫ります。制作している人たちも、そのあたりの微妙なバランスを意識して作っているような気がします。

そしていつもの彼女の中低域がふくらんだハスキーで心地よい声質は健在。クリスマスソング集ではありますが、いつものようにダイアナ・クラールの世界に自然と引き込まれていきました。

誰でも知っているクリスマスソングを次から次へと，ジャズ・アレンジでしかもDiana Krallの歌声で聞かせてくれるCD．John Claytonのアレンジが冴えていて気持ちいい．9曲目の「White Christmas」はDiana Krall単独のアレンジ．バックのジャズオーケストラも素晴らしい．Diana Krallをクリスマスソングの観点から鑑賞するのもよし，クリスマスソングからJazzに入るのにもよい一枚．

古くはシナトラやナンシー・ウイルソンなど、あまたの有名歌手がクリスマスソング集を出している。売らんかなの「季節商品」と言えば身も蓋もないが、やっぱり、当代一の実力派にして、人気歌手のクラールがクリスマスソング集を出した。で、選曲、歌い方は堂々の正当派。崩したり、奇をてらったりしない。そんな事をする必要もない実力があるのだから、当たり前か。ちょっと商業主義的な臭いが濃厚だが、やっぱりクラールの歌のうまさには、まいってしまう。星５つ以外にあり得ない出来です。（松本敏之）
