【プロフィール】
1945年1月10日生まれ、英国ロンドン出身。18歳の時にジミー・パウエル&ファイヴ・ディメンションズに参加したのをきっかけに音楽活動をスタート。スティーム・パケットなど、いくつかのグループを経て、66年にジェフ・ベック・グループにヴォーカリストとして加入。69年にはスモール・フェイセズ(フェイセズに改名)に加入すると同時にソロ活動もスタートさせ、70年にアルバム『ロッド・スチュワート・アルバム』でソロ・デビュー。71年にシングル「マギー・メイ」がアメリカとイギリスで同時にNo.1を記録する偉業を達成。その後も「セイリング」ほか数多くの大ヒット曲を放ち、ハイ・ペースでアルバム・リリースを重ねている。80年代以降も大規模なコンサートを開催するなど、全世界のトップ・スターとして君臨。2001年からは自身の新たなライフ・ワークとも言えるスタンダード集『ザ・グレイト・アメリカン・ソングブック』を発表し、高い評価を得ている。

とにかく元気を感じるし、テンポも速い。これ以降は総じてテンポが遅くなるしロッドの元気さという印象が後退していく。まあ誰しも年齢を重ねていくものですから仕方がないとしても、このアルバムでのロッドは最後の煌きの如く輝いております。シャウトしております。特に「Jealous」と「Young Turks」の乗りは素晴らしいです。個人的にはボブ・ディランの「Just Like A Woman」と懐かしのエースの「How Long」がお気に入りです。相変わらずええ曲知ってますわ。サウンド的にはフェイセス時代とは一線を画してますがパワーを感じることが出来ます。

自分のように90's J-POP聞いて育ったような世代にとって、最も聞きやすいのがこのアルバムだと思う。
彼の声は素晴らしく、聴くものを虜にさせる魅力がある。
お勧めは「トゥナイト・アイム・ユアーズ」「ジャスト・ライク・ア・ウーマン」「ジェラス」「夢をいつまでも」

ロッド・スチュワートとは何者なのかを知るのに、最もふさわしいアルバム。クイーンなんかと一緒に見直されて欲しいのですが・・。

この人好きです。
