近年ハンコックはポップとジャズを分けてアルバム制作をしている。その境界は微妙に分かりづらいが、さしあたってこの新作は、ポップを代表するアルバムだろう。ジョン・メイヤーからスティング、ポール・サイモンらキラ星のシンガーとの豪華アルバム。ジャンルを越え、世代を越えるのはハンコックには当たり前のことだが、これほど真正面からやられると、あまりに正統的で、音楽的な意外性が後ろに押しやられるのはなぜだろう。むろん、だからと言ってハンコックの才能が反映されていないというのではまったくない。むしろ、とくにバラードで顕著なのだが、キース・ジャレットをほうふつとさせるリリシズムは、これまでのハンコックのイメージを塗り替える。ピアニストは、誰もがハンコックをピアノの名手と感嘆するけれど、それをフツーに分かりやすく伝える見事な演奏だ。むろん、微妙にアウトするアレンジの冴えも素晴らしいし、う~ん、やっぱりこれはポップ・アルバムなのだろうか。 (青木和富) --- 2005年10月号

これだけの名作、これだけの有名人にもかかわらずこのレビュー数の少なさに少し驚いてしまいました。リラックスできる音楽が盛りだくさんです。参加したアーティストも本当に豪華すぎて、もう感激して涙ものです。また今まで知らなかったアーティストから新たに良さそうな人が見つかるのも良さのひとつです。ぜひとも購入してみてください。おススメです。

今回のアルバムはスティング、サンタナ、、、と他分野からの大物ゲストばかり。ハービー色がすごくでているというものではなく、どちらかというとハービーがゲストに歩み寄ってつくられている印象を受けました。これだけの異質なミュージシャンが集まっているにも関わらず、一枚通して聴けば、一つの流れができています。秋の夜にぴったりのアルバムです。

サンタナ参加の一曲をＦＭで聞き惚れ、ハンコックの今作エピソードを読みたく国内盤を購入しました。
３曲目のａ　ｓｏｎｇ　ｆｏｒ　ｙｏｕのクリスティーナ・アギレラがすごかった。（６種類のテイクを彼女は歌い、ハンコックはすべてＯＫテイクだったと賞賛）　私的にはこれだけで２５８０円の価値がありますが、参加ミュージシャン＜トラック＞をざっとメモしておきます。
ヴォーカル・・・ジョン・メイヤー＜１＞、ポール・サイモン＜４＞、アニー・レノックス＜５＞、スティング＜６＞、ほか。
ドラム・・・・スティーヴ・ジョーダン＜１，４，６，１０＞、ほか。
ベース・・・・Ｎ・イースト（４プレイ）＜３＞、ジョン・パティトゥッチ＜６，１０＞ほか。
キーボード・・・ＧｒｅｇＰｈｉｌｌｉｎｇａｎｅｓほか
ハーモニカ・・・スティーヴィー・ワンダー＜９　彼の８０ｓ代表曲ですね【映画ウーマン・イン・レッド】＞
ハンコック氏は、効果的にゲストを選び、ピアノで各曲をデザイン。ジャジーになりすぎぬように自分以外のキーボード奏者を起用、パーカッションとともにサウンド空間を美しく広げています。
昨年のケニーＧ【デュエット】とともに、ＡＣやＡＡＡ（トリプルＡ）、スムース・ジャズ等のＦＭ局からは当分使われる好盤です。また、一般に聞いてもジャズ・ピアニストが創造した洋楽の凄みが堪能できます、芸術の秋の一枚としてもどうぞ。
