オランダのゴシックメタルバンド、ウィズイン・テンプテーションの3rd。2004作
大ヒットとなった前作「MOTHER EARTH」から早5年、ついに彼らの新作が届いた。
待ってましたよ。本当に。先行シングルは聴いていたので、
アルバムの完成度には疑問の余地がなかったが、やはり期待通りの素晴らしさ!!
まず、いっそうの歌唱の魅力を身に付けたシャロン嬢の歌声にやられます。
サウンドはよりシンフォニックに音の厚みが増しており、人気バンドとしての風格ただよう
しっかりとしたプロダクションも見事。またなによりこのバンドの魅力であるメロディも充実していて、
曲ごとの盛り上げ方、アレンジの質は、その辺の似た者ゴシックバンドとはやはり格が違う。
バックの大仰なコーラス、オーケストラが音の荘厳さと説得力を付加しているが
大前提となるのはシャロン嬢のヴォーカリストとしてのこの力量あってのもの。
しっとりとして美しく、ときに妖艶に、ときに清艶に聴かせるその声の魅力は
5年の歳月を経てさらにワンランクアップしている。女性Voファン、ゴシックファンは全員聴くべし。
2005年もしばらくはシャロン嬢LOVE…状態が続くこと必至のシンフォゴシックの傑作。

美声の女性ボーカル。
荘厳でシンフォニックなバックに悲哀系のメロディ、それに意外と疾走感のあるGothRockというかGothMetalというか…です。
誤解を恐れずに書くと、『ルカ・トゥリッリがプロデュースしたエヴァネッセンス』といった雰囲気ですね。
私は減量のため夜中に自転車で走るのですが、このアルバムを聞きながらだとテンション上がって漕ぎまくり。「もっと走らないと地球が滅んでしまう！」みたいな悲壮感と疾走感につられます（笑）。おかげでかなり痩せました。
シンフォニック系のゴスが好きな人だけでなく、ダイエットを考えている方にもオススメです（？）。
ヒーリング…という言葉はあまり好きではないですが、あの素晴らしい声はそちらの要素もあるかと思います。
…難点を言えば、「同じような曲が多い」って事ですね。
せっかく素晴らしいボーカルなのだから、もっと曲のヴァリエーションが欲しかったです。
ささやくような歌とか、悲哀系のアカペラなんかがあってもいいと思うし、そういう事ができる声だと思います。（この人、普通に「アヴェ・マリア」などを歌ってもかなりイケルのでは…と）
今後の展開に期待！

エヴァネッセンス好きにおススメ！と聞いて購入しました。イントロから、映画音楽のような壮大感。まるで神話の世界のよう。シャロンの高音で美しい歌声。「スタンド・マイ・グラウンド」のようにハードな曲から、「ペイル」のようにスローな曲まで、幅広い音楽性に感動しました。見事ツボにはまりました。エヴァネッセンスがダークなゴシックだとしたら、こちらは神聖な感じ。「ゴシック・メタルはちょっと・・・」と敬遠している人も、これなら聴きやすいと思います。「メモリーズ」や「サムホエア」はひたすら綺麗だし、情熱的な「エンジェルズ」や「アクエリアス」には完全にノックダウンされました。ＤＶＤのライヴ映像も迫力がありました。純白のロングドレスのシャロンが「マザー・アース」を歌う姿は、まさにメタル。ケルトちっくなヒーリングミュージックの要素もあれば、ロックもある、非常にバランスの良い作品です。
