個人的にはくるりのアルバムの中で一番好きなんですが、くるりにしては地味と言えば地味に聴こえるかもしれませんね。メジャー１stの『さよならストレンジャー』に雰囲気的には近い感じがします。
Vo.岸田本人が語っているように、ドラマーのクリストファーの個性が色濃く反映された、生演奏的なライヴ感の強い、ギターインスト的なアルバムです。もちろん純粋な意味でインストなわけではありませんが、各楽曲の聴きどころ＝アガる部分がギターリフだったりギターソロの部分になってます。サビをギターのところに持ってきてるみたいな感じです。おそらく楽器の演奏を“聴かせる”ことに重点を置いたのではないかと思うのですが、テクニック的な意味でのレベルがとても高いように感じます。なので“歌モノ”が好きな方には『NIKKI』の方が聴きやすいかもしれません。
渋めのロックが好きな方におすすめだと思いますが、特に「Race」「花の水鉄砲」の和な雰囲気のひねくれたギターリフはたまらないですね。くるり節が効いてます。あまり派手さはないアルバムですが、聴きこむほど愛着がわく味のある１枚です。

これぞくるりの最高傑作なのではないでしょうか．
｢NIKKI｣を聞いたあと｢アンテナ｣を聞くと重厚なロックンロールに酔いしれること間違いなしです．

ニューアルバム「NIKKI」が発売されたばかりですが、
こちらも傑作！昨年の発売直後から買って聴いていたのですが、
今聴くとさらに身体に染み込んできます。

いろいろな音楽的発見もあって、
彼らのバックグラウンドの深さを垣間見れます。

正直に言うと、以前はくるりは２枚目の「図鑑」と、
「WORLD'S END SUPERNOVA」が山で、後は谷かなと思っていました。

いま改めてこのアルバムを再発見することができ、
ファンでありながら驚いています。

単にポップでもなく、ロックでもなく、民族音楽でもなく、
それらすべてでもあると意味で、本当のオルタナティブです。

こういう音が洋楽でなく、
同時代の日本人が作っているということを誇りに思います。
