プレステージ時代のマイルスのアルバムジャケットはしょぼいのが多いが、本作もご多分に漏れずいい加減。しかし、中身はタイトルのとおりコレクトせざるを得ない程の充実ぶり。マイルスのトランペットはビバップ時代を彷彿とさせるほどに鳴り響き、フロントを分け合うソニー・ロリンズの重いテナーは黒光りする。ピアノはチャーリー・パーカーコンボ時代の同僚のウオルター・デイヴィスJr.。控えめながら中々渋いプレイぶりだ。ベースはあの名手パーシー・ピース。この頃マイルスのセッションに良く参加していたので抜かりはない。やたら元気の良いケニークラークだなと思ったらドラマーはPhilly Joe Jones。もう既にマイルスとは息ぴったり。ところどころにパーカーが"Charlie Chan"の変名でテナーを吹いているらしいが、ロリンズとの違いが分からない程の元気の良さだ。トゥーヴァージョンある"Serpent's Tooth"での鋭いトランペットは聞き物だ。１から４曲までが以上のメンツ、５から７では、ピアノがトミー・フラナガン、ベースがポール・チェンバース、ドラムスがアート・テイラーにチェンジしているらしい。その旨のクレジットはないが、確かにそう言われればそう聞こえる。引き続き参加したロリンズのブローも相変わらず熱い。録音状態もアップしていて文句なし。
ハードバップの夜明けを告げる"Dig"も良かったが、この"Colletors' Items'はそれを凌ぐ勢いだ。"Bagg's Groove","Walkin'"に負けず劣らずの素晴らしいさ。最初の曲から最後まで聞きあきることがない。これだからマイルスは止められない。マイルスもきっとこのアルバムを気にいっていたのだろうここから２曲"Vierd Blues"("Trane's Blues"と改名)と"In Your Own Way"をマラソンセッション(Workin')で取り上げている。ここでの出来はもちろんマラソンセッションに劣らない立派なものだ。ジャンキー時代のマイルスも馬鹿に出来ない。
