いろいろ物議をかもしておりますが、五大バッパーが一同に集まった貴重なアルバムである。
個性の強いメンバー同士で火の出るような熱いアドリブが楽しめる。
とかくチャーリー・パーカーに凝ると泥沼に入ってしまう。人にどのアルバムを勧めるのか？と聞かれたら、結局あれこもれもとなってしまう。
とにかく理屈抜きにＪＡＺＺの巨人を楽しんでください。

この作品はミンガスのベースを取り直しただとか、パーカーとガレスピーがボクシングの試合のほうに気をとられていただとか、聴衆が少なかったとか、チャーリーパーカーは変名で参加、いろいろ有りますが、これを聴いて思うのはジャズはいい加減な人が作ったいい加減な音楽で、ひょっとするとジャズを聴いている人もいい加減な人かも知れません。しかし、圧倒的に演奏はすばらしい。実はいい加減な人は実はとてもすばらしい人ではないかと錯覚させるアルバムです。
いい加減は悪ですが、時として何事にも換えられないすばらしい行為かもしれません。
