Ａ＆Ｍのイージーリスニングを聞いていて、たまたま噂のこのＣＤを買い求めた。ジャズについてはほとんど能書きを垂れる知識は皆無です。かえって無心で聞くことが出来るのでバック・グラウンド・ミュージック的にかけることが多いです。ところがなんか熱が伝わってきて、ちょっと音を大きくして聞いて、興奮してきて「これは凄いわ！」とただ感激もんでした。愛好家が言われるようにスゴイ人だと素人の私にも思い知りました。

　とてもライヴ録音とは思えないくらいの音質のよさと完成度。ウェス＋グリフィン対ウィントン・ケリー・トリオで「フル・ハウス」という洒落たアルバム名。この時代を代表するハード・バップの名盤です。「インクレジブル・ジャズ・ギター」と共に聴いてください。

１９６８年、わずか４３歳で永眠したウエス・モンゴメリーがリバーサイド・レーベルに残した傑作。１９６２年の録音で、後年、演奏力の衰退がはなはだしかったウイントン・ケリー（ピアノ）もこの当時は絶好調。決して一流とは言えないジョニー・グリフィン（テナーサックス）もライブとあって渾身の演奏を聴かせる。ポール・チェンバースのベースはもちろんいい。表題曲のフルハウスのノリもいいが、一転して静かな２曲目の「アイヴ・グロウン・アカスタムド・トゥ・ハー・フェイス」や「降っても晴れても」「ボーン・トゥ・ビー・ブルー」など、いい曲が目白押し。後年のＡ＆Ｍレーベルのイージーリスニングジャズ路線もいいが、後年のウエスしか聴いたことのないファンにぜひ勧めたい一枚。（松本敏之）
