山口百恵が1980年秋に芸能界を引退して早２５年が経ちました。それ以降一度もテレビに登場しなくなりましたので、今や「伝説の歌姫」という存在になりましたね。
このＣＤは、そんな山口百恵の残した様々なヒット曲を、彼女の歌を愛した第一線のアーティストが、その個性を生かして繰り広げた歌の競演とも言えるトリビュート・アルバムです。

藤井フミヤの「ロックンロール・ウィドウ」は、原曲とは全く違う魅力を感じました。Ｒ＆Ｂのアレンジがカッコ良く決まっています。これはこれでＯＫですね。

福山雅治の「秋桜」は熱唱でした。彼女のファンだった福山の思いがストレートで伝わってきます。百恵ちゃんへのオマージュのような仕上がりです。
つんく♂の「さよならの向う側」は、惜しいですね。あの引退時の名唱が耳に付いていますので、それと比較すると雰囲気が劣るように感じられ残念でした。解説によると、つんく♂は心をこめて歌っていたようですが。

中森明菜の「愛染橋」は、とてもしっとりとした情感が感じられ、明菜の曲として十分に消化されていました。
PUFFYの「ひと夏の経験」のように、全く違うアレンジや歌い方は、面白く聞きました。ただ、コアな百恵ちゃんファンからは顰蹙されるかも知れませんが・・・。

辛島美登里の「プレイバック Part2」スパニッシュ系のギターのアレンジや、サーカスの「しなやかに歌って」のハワイアン調のアレンジは、オシャレでしたね。
ここまでくると別の曲に聞こえますね。もっともそれはそれで、作詞阿木燿子、作曲宇崎竜童、というコンビが創り出した70~80年代の和製ポップスの名曲が、２１世紀にまた光があたるわけで評価できると思います。

このようなトリビュート・アルバムは、山口百恵の歌声や曲を知らない若い世代にはとても新鮮に映ると思います。ただ、熱狂的な百恵ちゃんファンにとっては、どうでしょうね。彼女の歌声がやはり全ての歌唱を上回るように思います。個人的には楽しめましたが。

山口百恵の現役を知らない人には「こんな歌を歌っていたんだ」と思われるでしょうが、原曲をしている世代には百恵さんの歌を「上手く歌っている」と思われる歌手と、オリジナルを壊しすぎて「自分の世界観で歌っている」人や、「コレは本人を上回っている」などと聞き手側の判断で評価が分かれますが、一度ご自身で判断してみては。
でも、どれもいい曲ですよ。

ロックンロールウィドウ（藤井フミヤ）は、ディープパープルのハイウェイスター風のアレンジで、結構面白いと思います。でも、ツェッペリンのロックンロール風にしたら、もっと面白いのでは・・・。ほかの曲に今いちインパクトが無いのが残念かな。
