これ、原題「愛君如夢」っていう映画でしたよね。
アンディが経営する、ダンス・スタジオに通う人々の
心温まるコメディです。ちょっと見、「シャル・ウィー・ダンス｣
っぽいかなと思いますが、話は別物。

何より、アンディに憧れてダンスを始める、中年ウエイトレスの
サンドラ・ンがとっても可愛い。もともと、ベタなコメディ女優
でしたが30過ぎてから、役に幅のある女優さんになりました。
それから、今は亡きアニタ・ムイが、実際の彼女の孤高の姿を
彷彿とさせるような役で出演しています。アニタとアンディの
緊迫した絡みは、どきっとさせられます。アニタの弟役に
エディソン・チャン。今は売れっ子のロナルド・チュンも
ダンス教室の生徒として出演してます。

アンディは、根は悪い人じゃないけど、外面が良くて
計算高くて金銭的成功を夢見ている感じの役です。香港ドリームって
やつなのかな。ダンスシーンは、すてき。パートナーの女性
ダンサーは、アンディのコンサートにも出演していた人だと
思います。それから、アンディがびっくり物まねをする
シーンがあります。これは見てのお楽しみ。

ダンスの練習シーンなんか見てると、とっても
楽しそうで、習ってみたくなりますよ。見終わって、ちょっと
幸せな気分になれる映画です。

アンディの製作する映画は、本人がコメディが好きなだけあって。コメディが多いのデス。本作もコメディで御座居ます。コメディエンヌ・サンドラの演じるどこにでも居そうな女性。彼女を観てるうちに、このダンス教室に、習いに行きたくなりますよぉ〜。エディの弟っぷりは珍しいデス。お兄ちゃん役が多いので。そして、今は亡きアニタ姐さん(ジャッキーの「酔拳2」でジャッキーのママ役の美人サンですよ)のまわりには、寒気がする程のオーラがあります。なんともゴージャスな香港版シャルウィダンス。心温まる作品デスヨ。

　呉君如（サンドラ・ン）演じる冴えないフリーター生活を送る中年女性が
（役の設定だともっと若いのかもしれませんが見た印象は明らかに中年女性です）
アルバイト先のホテルで梅艶芳（アニタ・ムイ）扮する女社長と
劉徳華（アンディ・ラウ）演じるダンス講師がペアで踊る姿に魅了され、
彼の教室を訪れたことから始まるラブコメディです。

　ハリウッドリメイクが話題を呼んだ周防正行監督の「Shall We Dance?」を
思わせるストーリーですが、
日本版と比較すると憧れる生徒と教師の性別が逆転している点、
また、憧れの対象となる教師の側も苦しい台所事情を抱えているなど
コミカルで人間くさく描かれている点にオリジナリティがあります。
　草刈民代が演じた日本版ヒロインの女性講師に近い形象として
もう一人の生徒となるアニタの女社長が登場しますが、
対照的な生き方をするヒロインや他の生徒たちと交流する場面では弾けた表情を見せ、
決して取り澄ましただけのキャラクターには終わっていません。

　主役のアンディについて述べると、
彼が口説巧みに生徒獲得に努めるくだりは
実際にこの手の勧誘に少なからず伴うであろうデート商法を連想させ苦笑させられます。
しかし、彼が飽くまで爽やかさを失わずに演じているため嫌な後味を残しません。
ただ、撮影当時30代後半だったサンドラの夢見るヒロインが違和感を残すのと同様、
実年齢では不惑を迎えていた彼も
ホストさながらのテクニックを駆使して女性を丸め込み香港ドリームを夢見る役どころには
少し年を取り過ぎている観があります。
上昇志向を抱きつつ自分の在り方に疑問を持つ展開も含めて
彼の役は本作にゲスト出演し（翌年の『インファナル・アフェア』で彼の若き日を演じ）た
陳冠希（エディソン・チャン）辺りの年配にこそ相応しかったのではないでしょうか。

　それはそれとして最後まで退屈せず後味良く見られる一品です。
