たぶん一生聞く音楽ってこういうのだろうなと思わせる一枚です。歌詞やメロディーセンスは当然、音はさすがトニードゥーガンです、相当良いです。初期のグランジ全開の時より好きな人も多いと思います。スマパンの「メロンコリーそして…」を初めて聞いたとき程の張り詰めたモノがありました。文句なしです。

前2枚のアルバムもその作曲家としての不安定さからくる魔力、魅力、勢いで聴き応え充分なのだが、PARADISE LOSTはアルバムとしての収録曲のまとまりが比較にならないほどいい。

刺青まではほとんどノンストップといってもいい勢いでアップテンポ、ローテンポの曲が乱れ打ちされ、そこからゆるやかにテンションを落としていき、後味すっきり終わるという理想的な構成になっている。

一曲一曲見ていっても取り上げたい曲は数多い。
BLACK SUNSHINEはこれぞアートスクール独特の怪しげなミディアムナンバーの傑作であるし、ダニーボーイは渋さ全開のバラード。
直後のFor the swanは切れ味鋭いロックときている。

そしてなんと言っても一押しは『あと10秒で・・・』


あと10秒で世界が終わる時が来たらその10秒で君に触る
それ以外は何もねぇ


ただそれだけをシャウトしまくる姿が栄えるのは木下理樹さん以外には早々いまい。
まさしく死と性衝動以外にART SCHOOLのテーマはないという究極形である。

そしてこちらもお気に入りの「刺青」。
メロディーが大変秀逸で、ちょっとGRAPEVINEぽい。
何故か
「アンダーグラフの「ツバサ」より確実にいいだろう」
などと思った ノ;・ω・三 何故かはよくわからん

ART SCHOOLはこの後も相変わらず毎回作風が安定しないもので、この作品ほどフィーリングが合うアルバムは出てこないかもしれません ノ'∀｀三 それがまたおもしろい

いい意味で裏切られた。
正直、もうアートスクールは無理だろうと思っていた。
セカンドの出来もいまいちだったし、
日向秀和（現ザゼンボーイズ、ストレイテナー）
たちが脱退したときは決定打だと思った。

けれど、二年ぶりのこのアルバムの完成度の高さは目を見張るものがある。
海外レコーディングということで格段に音はクリアになり、
空間的に広がった。まるでMOGWAIのような質感の音だ。

それだけでなく、木下の歌詞、
楽曲の構造はさらにわかりやすいものになった。

歌詞のほとんどのモチーフはセックスと死である。
ひたすらそれだけ。

曲はヴァース~コーラスへと静と動のダイナミックに変化する。
木下が紡ぐメロディーはおそろしくポップで中毒性すらある。
特におすすめは、「ダニーボーイ」、「欲望」、
「ブラックサンシャイン」、「あと１０秒で」である。
