コント55号の集大成的番組だった。年末に紅白の裏番組として生中継されていたこともあったと思う。確か｢山彦屋｣・｢取調べ｣・｢個展｣等のネタがあった。腹がよじれるほど笑った事を覚えている。当時は家庭用ＶＴＲがなく、カセットテープに録音していた。今やそのテープも無く、記憶も薄れてきたので、ＤＶＤ化を待ち望んでいた。どの位待っていたかと言うと、文章では表現しきれない程待っていた。舞台狭しと動き回る欽ちゃんと二郎さんの勇姿を再び見られるかと思うと発売が待ち遠しい。どんなネタが収録されているか分からないが、とにかく星５つ！

5.0 out of 5 stars ５５号のコントまたやんないかな？, 2006/8/1
ＴＢＳ・フジ・テレ朝合同ＤＶＤを批判するわけではありませんが「なんでそうなるの？」は大掛かりなセットは一切使わず、最低限の小道具で勝負をしています。その分、自分達だけで客ＶＳ５５号の真剣勝負が見れて面白いです。あと、５５号の２人は今みたいな萩本監督の目ではなく、欽ちゃんの目が（笑いの）狂気に満ちていて非常に怖いです。とにかく欽ちゃんがしつこく二郎さんに絡んでいて、一瞬「蛇！？」に見えてしまいました。
このコントの裏の目玉は二郎さんがただ、ご飯をムシャムシャ食べるシーンが最高に面白い！今の若手芸人では絶対に出来ない芸をたっぷりとご堪能下さい。

ベーシックなネタのパターンはそれほど多くないのだが、バリエーションが非常に豊富。
ライブということもあって、お客さんとの微妙なやり取りがおもしろい。今のバラエティやお笑い（というか馬鹿騒ぎか悪ふざけ）の取って付けたような爆笑声に慣らされた耳には本当に新鮮に聞こえる。
アドリブはしないと伝えられているが、どうみてもアドリブとしか思えないシーンも満載。だいたい二郎さんがそのノリにもって行くのだが、萩本さんも抗しきれず、笑いがとまらなくなってしまって、ごまかすのに必死になっているのが観ていて分かるのが最高。
とにかく必見。一家に1セット！
これを観たら今テレビでやってるお笑いと称しているものがいかにレベルが低いか分かると思います。
