Album Description

The healing powers of music inspire Chris Pierce to explore effective ways to connect emotionally through sound. The new century has put Pierce together with a live band consisting of some of the most giving and expressive musicians this world has to offer. His new independent record titled "Static Trampoline" is receiving amazing reviews from fans and industry alike. His song "Are You Beautiful" is the theme for the new Banana Republic ad campaign on Bravo, and his energy filled performances are often described as "religious experiences." Whether he's labeled a prophet, a shaman, a soul man or a preacher, one thing is for sure, Chris Pierce channels from within and his passion for music continues to pour out of his heart.

Chris Pierce grew up in Claremont, California a small town of activists, trees, and PhD's. Claremont still holds a place in Chris's heart as an oasis that seems to foster philosophers, educators, and musicians. As a boy, he bagged groceries at the local market, and pursued acting and singing in local theater presentations, and appearing on notable television shows.

Pierce lost his father in 2000. He remembers him fondly as a big brother figure. A cool guy with a powerful presence, beautiful voice, and a fine collection of vinyl records. He describes his mother Carole, as an angel in his life with an infinite amount of warmth and happiness. When Chris was a child, his parents encouraged Chris to explore his obvious gifts. Chris began writing songs when he was only five years old and has grown up to craft fearless introspective rhymes about his own life and human experience.

Before he was old enough to drive, Chris was playing sets in clubs around Los Angeles and had been a repeat guest on the television show Big Break, hosted by Natalie Cole. Still in high school, he began playing gigs with his guru Grammy nominated rock ax-man Jon Butcher. At only nineteen he performed on a road tour with Sonia Dada all over the U.S., and later continued on to Moscow to play and sing in front of a 50 piece Russian Orchestra. After time on the road, Chris came home to Southern California to work on his degree in Jazz studies at USC. Ever since, he's been recording and doing independent road tours playing over 150 shows a year in living rooms, on the streets, in packed clubs, and coffee houses, earning him a underground legendary status on the West Coast.

Chris still remembers the first time he heard Bill Withers belting out "Lean On Me". He said to himself, "This man is expressing himself freely, and really doing his own thing, I can do that too." From that point on, Chris has been doing his own thing and mesmerizing audiences from Maui to Moscow. His voice can be heard on feature films, commercials and major label recordings. He has shared stages with Sonia Dada, Terence Trent D'Arby, Chris Isaac, Barry White, Neneh Cherry, Ben Harper, Macy Gray, George Clinton, Digable Planets, and many more genre-bending artists. Last summer Chris toured the U.S. and Europe opening for Seal, who had seen him perform and insisted he come on tour with him.

The Los Angeles Times raved "One of 10 homegrown artists you ought to know." The New Times calls this young multi-instrumentalist a "straight ahead, no-nonsense musician", and Music Connection writes, "Chris Pierce actually knows how to sing, and injects soul and meaning into every word of every song! His intensely emotional vision, attention gripping material and captivating stage presence make for a sure entertaining experience!"

"He's got heart. And soul. And tunes. Download: 'Static Trampoline.'" - Boston Herald

"Bravo's airing a Banana Republic spot featuring CHRIS PIERCE's deliciously drowsy 'Are You Beautiful?' to which we say, bravo." - Entertainment Weekly

"There is no discounting Bill Withers influence on a string of contemporary artists, including Chris Pierce, Raul Midon, and John Mayer." - Billboard
