これは是非、60〜70年代のロックが好きな方々に聴いて欲しいアルバムです。
「エモ」とか「インディーロック」とかいう言葉に尻込みしていては勿体ありません。

多くの若いバンドが、表面的なインパクトやキャッチーさに囚われてしまっている中、
ここまで丁寧に練り上げた曲を作れるバンドは他にいないのではないでしょうか。
イントロからアウトロまで、１つの音・フレーズも無駄にはしないという楽曲への強い想いを感じます。

また、一度聴けばわかる様な「シングル用」の楽曲が減った分、アルバムとしての統一感は前作以上だと思います。
１曲も「捨て曲」などありません。
心が震えるようなアルバムです。
とにかく一度、手にとってみる事をおススメします。

ちなみにTr.-11は、既発曲である「Stability」の新バージョンです。

　シアトル、ベリンガム出身の泣きメロバンド、dcfcの5th album。
　メジャー移籍してAtlanticからのリリースだけど、lpはやっぱbarsukから、47枚目のリリース。

　もうドキドキのサウンド、胸キュンメロディーの雨嵐。
　いつもどおりの優しいbenの声や感情的なギタ、ピアノ。それをしっかりと支えるベスとドラムによるリヅム隊。さすがです。
　アルバム全体的にはちょっと落ち着いてしまったかなって印象を受けるし、前の作品を超えてはいないなぁと思うけど、相変わらず捨て曲はない。

　いつかのcookie sceneでの（多分3rd albumの頃の）インタビューでも受けた印象なんだけど、やっぱりbenていうヒトが優しすぎる。
　そのインタビューを読んでイノセンスをすごく感じた。自分はそんな感じの人がつくったような作品にめっぽう弱い。

　best truckはm-4かな。お気にはm-2,8,9,10,11。

今回のアルバムからメジャーにフィールドを移し、エモやインディーロック愛好家からより幅広い存在へと飛躍したデスキャブ。
今回のアルバムに入る前にベンがポスタルサービスの活動を行っていたこともあり、今までのアルバムに比べ空間系エフェクトや電子音を取り込み、アンビエイト＋ポスト・エモという独特の色合いを持つアルバムになっている。
そうした試みが特に顕れている1曲目を聞けば、このバンドの狙いがすぐに分かるはずだ。
そうした中でも、このアルバムのもう一つのテーマはフォーキーということに尽きる。
今までのデスキャブでもアコギが用いられている楽曲は多かったが、今回は特にその傾向が強い。
先行シングルにもなったソウル・ミーツ・バディ、素朴な弾き語りが胸をうつアイウィルフォロー〜、アコギから作ったであることが一聴して分かるユアー・ハート〜などがそうした楽曲の代表例だろう。
今回のアルバムは全体としてポップで良い意味で美しく儚い楽曲が多く収められている。
インディファンからちょっとバラードちっくになりすぎじゃないの？なんて声が聞かれるのもそうしたことへの裏返しなのだろう。
しかし、インディ時代には無かった太さを獲得したことでこのバンドはネクストレベルへと進化した。
あまり来日のないバンドだが、（筆者はサマソニ０５でしか見たことがない）多くのロックファンにこのバンドの良さを知ってもらいたい。
ＵＫギターロックファンにもオススメのＵＳロックだ。
