これぞ、チャーリー・パーカー!
ご機嫌なフレーズが目白押し。
曲が進むごとに良くなってくるところが凄い。
特にラスト３曲は聴き応え満点で、大満足。
12「ナウズ・ザ・タイム」から13「コンファメーション」は
ジャズファンの至福のとき。
ピアノのイントロにもう少しバリエーションがあれば最高ですが、
バードの音色が聞こえた途端にすべてＯＫです。
でも、本人の体調や精神状態は良くなかったんだよなぁ…。
これぞ。モダンジャス！

ミュージシャンに対して「全盛期」という言葉を使うのは私は個人的に好みませんが、パーカーはそれほど好不調の波が激しく、いわゆる全盛期（笑）のサボイ版やダイアル版に比較すると、５０年代のヴァーブ版の本ＣＤや「フィエスタ」は見逃しがちのようです。しかしサボイ・ダイアルの頃と比較して録音はとてもよくなり、アドリブにしても聴きやすい印象を受けますし、これらのほうが初めてパーカーを聴かれようとする方にとっても親しみやすいと私は思います。本ＣＤは別テイクも収められ同じ曲が３回かかってしまう編集にもなってます。が、とりあえず聴きづらかったら、別テイクは全て飛ばして最後の「コンファメーション」やタイトル曲「ナウズ・ザ・タイム」を聴いてみてください。パーカーがいかにも楽しそうに好調に飛ばしているのが分かると思います。私個人は本ＣＤより同じヴァーブ版なら「フィエスタ」や「スエディッシュ・シュナップス」を気に入っておりますが、とにかくパーカーはスタジオ版でもそれなりの数を録音しているので、本ＣＤに関心を持たれたら、他にも耳を通してみたら如何でしょうか？
