音源を聴かずにこのジャケットを一見すると「インド音楽に影響を受けたサイケデリックロック」のような印象を受けるが、全然そんなことはない。かなりファンクなロックが中心に聴ける。
ラジオ番組を模した１からはじまり、２はジミ流のジャズ。３（個人的に一番好き）は、ライヴでも頻繁に演奏されたハードなナンバー。４は、ファンクロック。５は、思わず体が動いてしまうようなロック。カバーされた数で言うとジミヘンナンバーのなかでは最多であろう超有名曲６。ジミ本人が生前に完全な形・アレンジで仕上げることが出来なかった曲７。ストレートなロックサウンドにジミの才能を感じる８。９は、かのスティーヴィーレイヴォーンなども、この曲のコード進行やコードくずしに影響を受けた。ノエルがヴォーカルをとる１０。メランコリックな雰囲気の１１。これぞジミヘンファンク１２。空高く昇天していくような１３。

ジミ・ヘン（正確には「ザ・ジミ・ヘンドリックス・エクスペリエンス」）のセカンド。40年近く前の作品とは思えない先進性を持ち、ロックでありながらファンキー、ソウルフルな持ち味は最大限発揮されていますが、バラエティとPOPさも兼ね備えていて、最後まで一気に聞かせる点が名作と言われる所以でしょう。ライブでの荒っぽいパフォーマンスのイメージがありますが、この作品を聞けば、丁寧なプロダクションをしていたこともよく感じ取れます。
