ノルウェーブラックメタルエリート集団による4th。
３ｒｄから見えはじめたポップ性がさらに高まったと言うか・・・
ベクトルが完璧に違う。当初の奇怪な暗黒プログレの面影は完璧に消えうせた。それを喜ぶ人もいるだろうけど、自分は残念でならない。
３ｒｄは２ｎｄを聴き易く翻訳した感じであまり鼻につく事も無く素晴らしいメタルに仕上げてくれたけど、流石にこれは行き過ぎかな・・・と感じる。
まったく別のバンドと考えると、素直に良いと思えるのになあ。

　ブラックメタルシーン屈指のアーティストで構成されたスーパーグループ『ＡＲＣＴＵＲＵＳ』の新作はＶｏに現ＤＩＭＭＵ ＢＯＲＧＩＲのベーシストＩＣＳ ＶＯＲＴＥＸを迎えて製作されている。
　ＤＩＭＭＵ ＢＯＲＧＩＲではコーラスとしてあの朗々とした歌声を披露し、楽曲にアクセントを付けているが、こちらではメインで歌っているためか、元々声域が広くないこともあり、やや平坦な感じがするのも否めないところである。
　楽曲は、浮遊感漂うシンセが大活躍する『前衛的なブラックメタル』というより最早プログレッシブメタルと呼んでも差し支えないと思う（ブラックメタル特有の喚き声も全体の１~２割程度である）。
　そして、忘れてはならないのがドラムを叩いているＨＥＬＬＨＡＭＭＥＲであるが、とにかく強烈である。
　彼の所属しているバンドＭＡＹＨＥＭは未聴なので憶測でしか書けないが、本作を実際に聴くまでは、『イメージ先行型のあのバンドのドラムね・・・』という意識しかなかったのであるが、本作を聴いてみて、あまりの緻密さと正確さに驚いてしまった。マーク・ポートノイやアキレス・プリースター等のテクニカルさとはまた違った次元の上手さを持つドラマーであることに今更ながら気付いた次第だ。
　凄いのはヴォーカルやドラムばかりではなく、ギターも素晴らしく、メロディアスなソロ満載である。

ノルウェーのシンフォニックブラックメタルバンド、アークチュラスの4th。

ブラックといっても、2nd以降は知的でアートな部分を追求したようなサウンドになっている。
今回は、現DIMMU BORGIRのペースである、VortexをメインVoにすえ、
スペイシーなシンフォニックメタルをやっている。前作の出来が物凄く良かったのだが、今回はさらに力が抜けたような、メタルなのだがスペイシーなプログレ的な雰囲気もあるという音だ。
Hellhammerのドラムは相変わらず切れがよいが、曲のメリハリが多くないので以前より見せ場は少ない。
そして全体的に音質がこもり気味な気がするのは、スペイシーなコンセプトによるものかな?
雰囲気ものスペースメタル(?)としては、なかなかクオリティは高いと思う。プログレリスナーも聴くべし
