これをゲットするまでは、煮物のときにはアルミホイルの真ん中に小さい穴を空けたもので代用しその場をしのいでいたのだが、やはりそれ用に作られたものは「断然違う！」んである。
この「落としブタ」自体にある程度の重さがあるので、煮汁が煮立っても鍋の中で上手い具合に具を押さえてくれ、具の形になじんで煮くずれないし、ふきこぼしも少ない。当然味はよくしみる。
シリコン製なので清潔だし鍋から取り出す時は菜箸を鼻の穴にひっかけてヒョイと持ち上げれば布巾も汚さず素手で掴んで火傷することもない。
ちょっとした小物ではあるが今や私の台所になくてはならないスグレモノだ。
おかげで食卓に煮物の登場回数が増えた。

重さも程よく柔らかい材質なので煮物の上から優しく押さえてくれる感じ。
取り出すときにお箸を鼻の穴に入れて持ち上げるのでついつい微笑んでしまいます。
ただ、お魚などのときは匂いが取れにくい気がします。

この商品に出会うまで自分では落し蓋を持っていませんでした。木製のものはどんどん料理の匂いが付くんじゃないかと考えたり、金属のものは柔らかくなっている料理に重みがかかりすぎるかもと余計な心配をして買えませんでした。
でも偶然このシリコン製の蓋にめぐり合って、欲しかったものが合ったと直感で購入。思ったとおりの柔らかさと重み、ちょうど料理の上に乗せているだけで余計な重しとならない様子。
取り扱いも簡単で、木製のもののように反り返る心配も無し。大小二つ持っています。
