M・ホワイトが核となったE．W.&Fの数あるベスト盤のひとつである。彼らのヒット曲はほとんど網羅されているが、欲を言えば「暗黒への挑戦」「I had enough」も入れてほしかった。バラード系の前者はコンサートのラストに欠かせない曲で、フュージョン系アーティストも多くカバーしている名曲である。TVのCMや有線など若い方にも馴染みがある曲ばかりで楽しめる。

アース・ウインド＆ファイヤーの魅力

その１　
モーリス・ホワイトとフィリップ・ベイリーのツインボーカル。
「ファンタジー」なんかで、
フィリップ・ベイリーのファルセットボイスに
ユニゾンでさびをとるモーリスがカッコいい！

その２
壮大な宇宙観を演出するブラスセクションとシンセアレンジ。
「ファンタジー」にしても「ゲッタウェイ」にしても、決めのブラスのカッコいいこと！

その３
ファンクのノリで客席との掛け合いやヒートアップさせていくワンコードファンク。
「シャイニング・スター」「レッツ・グルーヴ」なんかは
モーリスが客をあおる姿やベースの派手なパフォーマンスが目に浮かんでカッコいい！

その４・・・まだまだありますが…

このアルバムの選曲は、まさにベストです。
おまけのようにモーリスの「アイ・イード・ユー」が入っているのもうれしい。
確か、ＴＤＫかマクセルのＣＭに使われていましたよね。

最近ＣＭで使われることが多い、セプテンバーを含むEWFの名曲が
19曲(19曲目はメガミックス)入ってこの値段は間違いなく買い
でしょう。EWFを知らない人にもお勧めできます。
