久しぶりのアルバムで期待して待っていましたが、やっぱり期待を裏切らない曲たちでした。特に歌はすごくいい感じに仕上がっていて、とても満足でした。ギターについては、音楽をやっている者として聞くと昔のほうがやはりいい音を出していますが、僕個人としては、今のクラプトンの落ち着いた音のほうが気持ちがいいです。やっぱりクラプトン。還暦を過ぎてもまだまだやってくれます。

期待はまたしても裏切られることは無かった。
無駄な力を一切ぬき，水が風が流れるような曲のバックで男っぽいギターサウンドがうなる。

２曲目・５曲目では見事なレゲエを聴かせてくれる。
３曲目では強いビートを刻むクラプトンのシャウトが聴ける。
１０曲目はバンジョー（？）の軽いギターソロ
１１曲目はコンサートのラストを閉めるようなスケールの大きさ
そしてラストに続く３曲は家族の愛や暖かさにつつまれた柔らかなサウンド

いろいろな道を経て，家族の愛に包まれているクラプトンの姿が目に見えるアルバム

全12曲中6曲（1,2,5,10,11,12）がクラプトンのオリジナル曲。3はスティービー・ワンダー、4はスピナーズ、6はジョージ・ハリソン、7&8はドイル・ブラムホールII、9はヴィンス・ギルの手になる楽曲である。前作のオリジナルアルバム「REPTILE」での"I ain't gonna stand for it"(スティービー・ワンダーのカバー)のような、いわゆるハイライト的なトラックはないものの、楽曲の１つ１つの完成度とバラエティに富んだ構成は本作に軍配が上がり、12曲を通して聴いたとき素直に楽しめる。
もう一つ、「BackHome」で特筆すべきはゲストミージシャンの豪華さ。例えば6"Love comes to everyne"でスティーブ・ウィンウッドがシンセサイザー・ソロを弾いていたり、10"One track mind"でペダル・スティール・ギターの名手ロバート・ランドルフがフィーチャーされたり。他にもジョン・メイヤーやヴィンス・ギルなど、音楽業界でのクラプトンの人脈と知名度をフルに活用して仕上げた贅沢なアルバムだと思う。
