『ライヴ・イン・ヨーロッパ』では、あまりよさがぴんと来なかったのですが、このライヴ盤でのブルース＝ロック系ギターによる自己表現、インプロヴィゼーションに感動しました。ロックであり、ブルースであり、すさまじいですね。まさしくライヴ。『ヨーロッパ』のときよりも、エレクトリック・ギターの演奏の割合が高いです。ぼくはクラプトンよりこっちのほうが好きです。
さて、この紙ジャケット盤の中身は、あくまで1998年リマスター盤です。2005年リマスター盤ということではないので、その点はご注意を。ライナー、ライナー訳、歌詞は、折りたたみの紙ではなく、ちゃんとしたブックレットに印刷されているので、見やすいです。でも、歌詞の日本語対訳はついていません。

ロックのライブの名盤はディープ・パープルの「ライブ・イン・ジャパン」などありますが、この「ライヴ・イン・アイルランド」も素晴らしい。１曲目「クレイドル・ロック」では倍音響きまくりのギターが格好良すぎです。このレビューを書くために改めて聴いてみたのですが、ものすごく新鮮です。全然、古くない。先走って突っ込みまくるロリーのギターの音色を聴いていると、汗の飛び散りまで感じさせてくれます。
余談ですがロリーのストラトキャスターの塗装がはがれているのは、体質的に汗かきだったことが影響しているそうですよ。

ロリーのアルバムを初めて聴いたのは高２の夏、２０数年前にもなる。アナログレコードに針を落として、泣きのギターが耳に飛び込んできた瞬間からもう夢中、２枚の裏表一気に聴いてしまいました。

当時、ハードロック全盛期で、ギタリストといえばブラックモア、ペイジの超派手スタイル。少しダサめのチェック柄のシャツを着た、どぶネズミのような容姿のロリーは、ある意味クラプトン以上にブルージーなギタリストかもしれませんね？
このIrish Tour 74は、アナログ版の9曲収録であるオリジナル版です。

私としては、１０曲収録のやつより愛着が湧くというもんです。？
アナログプレイヤーをしまいこんだ私は、久しぶりにタトゥレディに酔いしれる夜を、アイリッシュウイスキーと共に過ごしております。
