待望の国内盤にして彼の世界に先駆けての「日本発」ワールドワイド・メジャーデビューアルバムとなる作品。USインディー盤であった『Bedroom Demos』と同様、こちらも彼がひとりで完成させたアルバムとなっている。
さて、噂されていた通り、『Bedroom Demos』に比較して、本作はかなりロック色が強い作品と言えるとは思う。例えば、私の場合は、１曲目のイントロを聴いたとき、「ぉ、レニクラみたいな感じだな」と私自身が思った。ただ「ロック色」と言ってもあくまで彼の場合は「ファンク」だ。持ち味であるグルーヴ感はそのままに、ただサウンド的にはエレキキダーの比重をちょっと増やしたよ、という感じ。バッキングのエレキギターの音がかなり歪ませてあるという意味で「ロック色が濃くなった」と言われているんだろう。
その点以外は『Bedroom Demos』と同様、気持ちいいグルーヴ、独特のクセのある声、ファルセットと地声をうまく使い分けるヴォーカルスタイル、すべてが「DB色」としか言えないな作品となっている。
とにかく「Funk」なサウンドが聴きたい。あるいはグルーヴィなサウンドが聴きたい。クールなサウンドが聴きたい。表現はなんでもいい、洗練されたカッコいい音を求めているすべての音楽ファンにオススメできる最高のアーティストだ。

基本的に、ファンク・ロックにフォーキーさをあわせた楽曲に、ソウルで時折ブルージーな声（ホント良い声！！！）が絡む（イメージとしてはジェイソン・ムラーズのヒップ・ホップっぽい韻を踏んだ駆け足ソングにジョン・メイヤーのような軽いカッティングが絡んだ）とってもオシャレなかんじ。アルバムとしてもエレキ・アコギのバランスも半々くらいでどんな人にもウケルと思います。
全曲オリジナルかつ全楽器を自分で演奏（プリンスかスティーヴィー・ワンダーみたい）ということで正に天才！！！
自分で演奏しているだけあって、楽曲・声・演奏の全てが寸分たがわず同じベクトルを向いている。新人でこれはすごい。
アルバム全体としては、曲そのもの+彼のボーカル術の幅の広さに驚かされる。
ジョン・メイヤーの1ST（グラミー受賞）やジェイソン・ムラーズの1ST（ゴールド・ディスク）よりも楽曲の幅そのものがあり、かなりのキャパシティを感じさせる。ファンクではファンク（特に1.2.3.）して、バラードではバラード節（9とか）をしっかりと聞かせてくれる。

本国では今作が発売されるか分からないが、このお仕着せがましくないロックの形は、聴いていて本当に気持ちが良い！！！肩肘張って無理していない感じが良い。本当に才能だけで勝負している感がGOOD!!!
ジャンル分けは難しい、というよりも、「David　Boyles」というのが一つのジャンルになっている。
超お薦めです。個人的にはJOHN　MAYER　TRIOのTRYと並ぶ、ココ最近のお気に入りです。

（追加）確か、高校時代はドラマーで、大学ではジャズベース専攻のギターが副専攻でしたね。すごぃ。
