馴れ馴れしく自由奔放で怪しげなケビン・スペイシー扮するエディと良き家庭人で誠実なケビン・クライン扮するリチャードの対照的な二人の競演。隣人として越してきたエディがリチャードに一夜限りの夫婦交換を持ちかけ罠にはめる。まんまとはまり、どんどん絶望的に…と結構はやいストーリー展開で退屈しません。ケビン・スペイシーのファンの方には悪いですが、その不気味さがはまり役、金髪も手伝ってうさんくささがもうこの人しかいないという感じです。私はケビン・クラインのファンなので見ていてハラハラドキドキ、思わずバカッって叫んでしまったり危なっかしいです。適度なエキサイティングさのサスペンスだと思います。

リチャードは隣人エディの妻に惹かれる。全てはそこから始まった。心の中では４人ともそれを望んでいるじゃないか、人生は積極的に楽しもうと、言葉巧みにエディがリチャードに妻のスワッピングを申し出る。リチャードはまんまとその言葉にのせられ殺人容疑をかけられる事となる。
ケビン・スペイシーは良く見るとアイラインを引いていた。既に見た目から「曲者」という感じが出ていた。さすが！。リチャードの妻の一貫性のない行動は理解不能。その意味で一番のクセモノは彼女のような気もする。リチャード夫婦は以前の夫婦に戻れるのか。
アラン・Ｊ・パクラ監督が手がけた１９９０年（この作品の２年前）の「推定無罪」の主人公（ハリソン・フォード）同様、この作品の主人公も死刑か終身刑かというところまで、とことん追い詰められる。サスペンス好きにはたまらない緊張感が楽しめる作品。
