いろいろな80'sコンピが出ていますが、ここまで極めた作品はありませんでした。最高です！2枚組なのですがdisc1とdisc2のコンセプトがきっちり分かれていて、曲順も良く全体の流れも素晴らしいです。特にdisc2の前半、ジョン、ホイットニー、シカゴ、ジャーニーへと続いていく美しい曲の流れは聴いていて、思わずうっとりしてしまいました。また、収録されているアーティストもスゴイ顔ぶれです。マドンナ、ジョン・レノン、ホイットニー・ヒューストン、ポール・マッカートニー、フレディ・マーキュリーといった人達が一緒に入っているコンピは今まで見たことがありません。本当に究極のエイティーズ・コンピです。一部のカスタマーレビューでフルコーラスの収録ではなくフェードカットと書いてありますが、これは間違いですね。当時のLPやEPと比較したところ、デヴィッド・ボウイとデュラン・デュラン、そしてトム・トム・クラブがシングル・ヴァージョンでしたが、他はすべてアルバム・ヴァージョンが収録されていました。フェードカットの曲など一曲もありません。すべてフルコーラスで収録されていました。とにかく、80年代に青春を過ごした方なら誰もが納得する内容です。ベストヒットUSAで育った30代や40代の人には絶対にお奨めの作品ですね。

今まで数え切れない80`Sのオムニバスが出されてきましたが、今現在で最も充実した内容と言えると思います。2枚組みで1枚目は、ロックテイスト中心、2枚目はバラード＆ラブソング、ライト&メロウ系が執心という構成です。 曲目は、DISC１は、ドラマですっかり有名になった１「ボーン・トゥ・ラヴ・ユー」（フレディ・マーキュリー）、80`SのUKミュージックの２「テイク・オン・ミー」（a~ha）、10「カーマは気まぐれ」（カルチャー・クラブ） 13「ヴィーナス」（バナナラマ）16「君はToo Shy」（カジャグーグー）そして、まさに80｀Sを象徴するMTV＆ナイル・ロジャースミュージックの3「ライク・ア・ヴァージン」（マドンナ）、4「リフレックス」（デュラン・デュラン） 7「レッツ・ダンス」（デヴィッド・ボウイ）、そして締めはあの時代の音楽の牽引的役割をしたベストヒットUSAの番組テーマの18「サーフサイド・フリーウェイ」（ヴェイパー・トレイルズ）です。
DISC２は、80年の幕開けと共になくなったjohnの「ウーマン」から、彗星のごとく表れ、バラードで心をつかんだ「すべてをあなたに」（ホイットニー・ヒューストン）、80年代にデヴィッド・フォスターのプロディースで新境地を開いた名曲３「素直になれなくて」（シカゴ）、ライト＆メロウの世界を広げた5「ニューヨーク・シティ・セレナーデ」（クリストファー・クロス）13「カサブランカ」（バーティー・ヒギンズ）16「I.G.Y.（ドナルド・フェイゲン）、ちょっと渋めの選曲で当時の知っている人にはたまらない 11「変わらぬ想い」（ジョージ・ベンソン）、17「ジャスト・ザ・トゥー・オブ・アス」（グロ-ヴァ-・ワシントンJR ）と、単にヒット曲の寄せ集めではなく、2枚の中に80`Sという音楽をうまく盛り込んだ内容だと思います。

他にもいくつか８０年代のオムニパスを持っていますが
なぜあの曲が入っていないの？と思うことが多々ありましたが
そんな不満をこのアルバムが解消してくれました。
「あーこんな曲あった！！」と思い出す曲も多く
８０年代を新鮮な気分で楽しめる一枚と思います。
