ヘヴィです。しかし各楽曲にキラリ!と光るモノが必ずあります。発売当時、ウォークマンで聴きまくってたっけ…地響きコーラスや、油圧ポンプのような重圧の曲。FAST AS A SHARKのような速い曲は無いけれど、速さに匹敵する重さがあります。捨て曲無しの男のロックです。アクセプトの中でも一番好きなアルバムですね。再発リマスターされ音もよくなり、より重圧を感じることができます。この当時から日本でのアクセプト伝説が始まっていきました…

このアルバムがでるまで彼らは単なるマイナーなジャーマンメタルバンドでした。その頃ドイツといえばスコーピオンズしかメジャーなメタルバンドがいなかった時代です。英国のレディングフェスティバルにアクセプトが出演したとき、大観衆は大ブーイングだったそうです。日本でも変な名前のメンバーがいる程度の認識だったように記憶しています。
しかし当アルバムがでてから風向きが変わってきました。英国でも日本でもドイツを代表するメタルバンドはアクセプトであるということが浸透していきました。
アルバムの出来という意味では、後続の2作に遅れをとるかもしれません。しかし当時毎日のようにこのアルバムを聴いていただけに、おもいいれがたっぷりあるのです。
また、ハマーフォールのコーラスの付け方を聴くといかにアクセプトの影響が大きいかもよくわかります。
このアルバムがなければ、メタルハートもロシアンルーレットも生まれなかったのです。必聴!

Acceptのマイナーからメジャーへの第一弾。
過去のアルバムに比べてミディアムテンポな曲が中心です。

ぱっと聞く分には「Breaker」「Fast As a shark」「Metal Heart」などの各楽曲の方がインパクトはあると思います。
事実、私自身、このアルバムを初めて聞いたときは何か物足りなさを感じましたし。
しかし、どちらかと言えばスルメ系とでも言いましょうか、聞けば聞くほど味が出てくるのがこのアルバム。
前述の一曲一曲の完成度ではなく、アルバムとしての完成度が非常に高いと思います。
今では、Acceptの中では最高傑作と私は位置づけています。
もしこのアルバムを聞くなら、何度も聞いてください。
私が言いたいことが分かってもらえると思います。

全曲お勧めですが、特に9曲目の「Guardian Of The Night」が私にとっては一番のお気に入りです。
これを1番という方はあまりいないようですが…。
やっぱりAcceptやScorpionsなどのジャーマン系はいいですね。日本人の音楽的感覚と合うんでしょうかねぇ…。
