Live盤CDが数多くある中、Hard Rockの分類に属する中では
Top3 に入る名盤中の名盤。Thin Lizzyのファンではなくても
必聴の価値あり。彼らが優秀なバンドである事、楽曲の素晴らしさ、
ツインリードギターの面白さ、リズム隊の一体感などを実感
できます。こういった優秀なバンドが解散せざるをえないとは
人生とは不思議なものです。やはり彼らは One & Only なのです。

ツインリードギター体制絶好調期のライヴを収録した２枚組。
世の中には恐ろしく高速で技巧的な演奏や尋常ではないテンションを収録したHR〜HMのライヴアルバムが山ほどあるが、本作のように渋さや懐かしい感傷を呼び起こす作品はなかなかお目にかかれない。

ほのかにやさぐれた切なさを思い出させる名バラードの数々が実に胸を打つ。HRがパンク以前に表現内容としては放棄してしまった、諸行無常に過ぎては老いて行く人生の陰について真っすぐ向き合って歌っているためか、年をとればとるほど心に響きそうないい歌ばかり入っているのである。それでいてアルバム全体の作風はハードな演奏とポップな曲調の楽しさ全開モードに彩られているので、聴いた後は「楽しかった！」の一言でしっかり終わる嬉しいつくりになっている。

HR的な完成度は間違いないが、ザ・バンドのような土っぽい懐かしさがそこかしこに顔を見せる、フォークロア的な質の高さも兼ね備えている。HRが一生ものの音楽として開放された、HRの成熟を体現した一枚。

｢今夜はきっと脱獄が起こるぜ｣と繰り返し歌われるJailBreak、短い人生を駆け抜けたリノットの｢乾いた渇望｣が聴き取れる最高のオープニングから最後まで一体化したバンドサウンドに貫かれ、質・量ともに申し分のないロックライブアルバム屈指の作品。出しゃばり過ぎたソロなどなく、三本のストリングス隊は紡ぎ合い美しい調和で魅せてくれる。特にTrack1〜10までの流れはため息もの。巧みなボーカルとブラスの混ざり具合がロマンティシズムをくすぐるDancing In The Moonlight、ZEPとEaglesのいいとこ採りのような劇的で叙情性溢れるバラッドStill In Love With You、動力学的ダイナミズムが凄いSHA LA LA等選曲も言うことなし。ハンサムな声に似合う質量のある丸く甘いトーンのベースが終始ブイブイ言わすのも低音ファンには堪えられない。

ハードロックにありがちなギスギスした緊張感や威圧感よりも、郷愁や妙な懐かしさに満ちていて興奮とは違う気持ちよさがこの作品にはある。おそらく作品全体を包み込むハッピーな気分、空気を味わいたいがために皆に愛されてやまないのだと思う。
