いくら、自己との対話でも、こっこっこれは！コワイです。ビルエヴァンスが分離して跳んできそうで。多重録音シリーズでは3作目になりますが、（自己との対話、さらなる自己との対話、そしてこれ）なんか妙に小うるさいだけのように思えた前作に対して、ここへ来てやっとこの企画が的を得たというか。2台のピアノのうち、いままでは2人のエヴァンスがケンカしてるみたいだったのが、一方がエディゴメスやジムホール的になったり、また入れ替わり、きちんとデュオの意義が感じられます。まぁ前作は録音も古く、音が悪いといった難点もあったけれど、この作品はさらにエレクトリックピアノという新しい味わいも加わり、奥行きが増しているのですね。エヴァンスとエレピ、けっして相性が悪くない。かなり天然??使いたいように使ってる感じですが、コロンビアのザアルバムの頃よりずっと使いこなしていると思う。変なジャケットだけど一聴似値しますよ

　ビル・エヴァンスは既に、VERVE時代に、２枚の「一人多重録音ピアノ・アルバム」を製作している。
　しかし、出来は、どちらもいまひとつ、だった。
　70年代末、ワーナーに移籍して、まず最初に発表したのが、同企画への三回目のトライだった。それだけ、本フォーマットへのこだわり、というか、やる気と新しいアイデアがあったのだろう。
　そして、結果は大成功と出た。
　その原因の主要因は、やはり、エレクトリック・ピアノの導入だろう。
　音楽には通常、メロディ・リズム・ハーモニーの三要素があるといわれているが、60年代後半以降、それに「トーン（音響的な効果）」が、加わった。
　そして、シンセをはじめとする電気鍵盤楽器と、様々なアタッチメント類を付加したエレキ・ギターの進化が、その流れを推進した。
　本作で、もし、まったく同じフレーズをアコピだけで弾いて重ねたとしたら、これほどの美しさは具現できなかっただろう。
　ビル・エヴァンスといえば、時代の電化の波に乗り遅れた「古くて保守的な人」のような印象をもたれているが、本作を聞くと、彼なりに、エレクトリック･ピアノの可能性と方向性を探っていたのだな、ということが、了解できる。
　また、以前の作では、何かトリッキーな効果を狙ってわざわざ三つ目のピアノを足したのではないか、と思わせるような楽曲もあったが、本作の「重ね」には、無駄が感じられない。
　全作品の中でも、十指に入る名作だと思う。

アコーステックピアノ＋ローズピアノをオーバーダビングするという手法を駆使して録音したもの。モーダルで華麗なタッチはやはりすばらしい。が、ピークのエバンス（トリオフォーマット時）を上回るものではないようです。Die-hardなファン向けアイテムのように思われます。実験精神はいいと思いますが。　　　１０点中５点
