アメリカ進出第３弾。今作を最後に二井原実(Vo)は一旦バンドを離れる事に成るが、従来のLoudnessがLoudnessたる所以であった骨密なへヴィさに、何とかアメリカで売れようとするために極限までポップな面に歩みよったLoudnessの極みが今作。当時メンバーは、『Loudnessはポップな音も大好き』と発言していたが、これは言い訳でなくてある意味本音でもあったろう。
売れようとする事に良い意味で執着した結果か、とにかく曲が良い。当時は当然アナログ盤が全盛であったため、特にA面にあたる前半は全く隙がない素晴らしい出来栄え。とは言え、最もハードな"SDI"をトップに敢えて持ってきたのは、『俺たちは決して軟弱に成った訳じゃない』という無言のアピールである。後半はバラードである"So Lonely"を除くと意図的にへヴィな曲を集めた様な印象。二井原実は後に、『全米のトップ１０に入ると思っていた』と発言していたが、これだけの物を作ったその事実だけで立派な一等賞だ。

前2作、THUNDER〜とLIGHTNING〜より売れなかった作品です。
が、これはプロモーションに問題があったと思います。前2作では順調にビルボードチャートで上昇していましたから。
全米ではツアー時にサポートバンドを従えて回るケースが殆んどでLOUDNESSも例外ではありません。ヘッドライナーのメリットは何と言ってもそのプロモーションです。街ではライブで来る数週間も前からテレビ、ラジオで24時間紹介されまくります。嫌でも街では浸透するし、そのバンドの音楽で溢れかえります。
一方サポートバンドのメリットはBIGNAMEと回る事で、仮に一晩1000人しか集められないバンド等はヘッドライナーが一晩で集めた20000人の前で演奏出来ます。
つまり20日分を一晩でこなす訳ですから最高のプローションになります。LOUDNESSはTHUNDER〜の時はヘッドライナーとしてKEELを従えて、サポートアクトとしてMOTLEY CRUEと回り、LIGHTNING〜の時はヘッドライナーとしてPOISON.CINDERELLAをサポートに従えて、サポートアクトとしてAC/DCと全米、SAXONと欧州を回りました。が、HURRICANE〜の時はサポートアクトとしてSTRIPERと回っただけでした。仮にこれがヘッドライナーとしてなら、プロモーション的にもアルバムのクオリティの高さからも、もっともっと売れていただろうと思います。
今と違いインターネットも無い時代でしたから、やはりプロモーションは大事だったと思います。逸話ですが、STRIPERと回ってた頃、街の人に「なんだLOUDNESS、お前達来てたのか」って事が有ったとか無かったとか。
まぁタイミングなんでしょうね。肝心のアルバムの中身ですが、百聞は何とかって言いますし、是非聞いてみて下さい。LOUDNESSを知らない人に聞かせると皆、口を揃えて「これ外タレ?」って聞いてきます。それ位クオリティは高いです。

これは最高にいいです。　音は今のようなデジタルな音ではないですが、テンポも良く聞きやすいですよ。
ギターのテクもこのようなフレーズを今できるギタリストがいるでしょうか？　高崎　晃のテクをこれからもっとメディアが取り上げるべきと
思います。
