デビュー曲「のんだくれ」から「愛の行先」までの、ワーナーパイオニア時代に発売されたＥＰ盤Ａ面の９曲による初期ベスト盤。曲目は以下のとおりです。
1.池上線 2.のんだくれ 3.1460日 4.ジンライム
5.かもめより白い心で 6.千登勢橋 7.思い出をふりかえらずに
8.黄昏の街でさよなら 9.愛の行先

｢ENCORE ベストセレクション｣に含まれている曲ばかりですので、既に同ＣＤをお持ちの方はあえて購入する必要はないでしょう。たまたま｢池上線｣を聴いたとか｢おひさまのたね｣で西島三重子に興味を持ったといった方々のためには格好のＣＤでしょう。
しかし、長年の西島三重子ファンとしてはベスト盤よりも復刻盤が望ましいところです。せめてワーナーパイオニア時代のＬＰは全てＣＤ化してほしいものです。｢プロポーズ｣｢口笛を吹かないで｣｢白いプロローグ｣等々、ＣＤ未収録の名曲が数々あるのですから…

　　うた song の旅人　駅に残した切ない記憶　西島三重子「池上線」e1＆e2参照
この歌が誕生した様子や作詞家の人生を振り返りながら、もう一度「池上線」を
試聴して、一段と駅に残した切ない記憶がよみがえりました。

　デビュー当初の'７４年から知っていたわけではなく、'７６年に「池上線」が発売になったとき、深夜番組で３曲ほど演奏を聴き、「西島三重子」ファンになりました。その後、３０年近くの間忘れたことがなく、２００５年７月にベスト盤が発売になり、懐かしくなりました。（５４歳）
