音質はクリアで見通しがいいのですが、少し柔らか味もあり好みのバランスです。音場感もリアルで舞台の奥の方で管楽器が鳴る感じが良く出ています。
　演奏はスコアに忠実というより、かなり演出が入っており、少し？？？と思うところもありますが、それはこの演奏の個性として十分楽しめる範囲で嫌味になるほどではありません。ちょっと演出が入った演奏として、ライブラリーに加える意義があるＣＤだと思います。

値段もリーズナブルでかなりお勧めですね。

5.0 out of 5 stars ムジークフェラインスザールの響きが美しい（優秀録音）, 2005/10/10
コリン・デイビス指揮ウィーンフィルの響きの美しい幻想交響曲です。１楽章から３楽章のデリケートな響きが絶品。もちろん４、５楽章の迫力も十分ですがやはりおどろおどろしさよりもここでも響きを味わえます。２楽章の出だしのハープからおっという感じ。すごくきれいです。トランペットが普通よりもかなりクローズアップしてハープにからみます。３楽章のイングリッシュホルンとクラリネットの絡み合い、テンパニの雷鳴などホールの距離感がよくでています。４楽章、５楽章は他の録音では混濁しがちですがすっきりクリアーに楽器が分離。５楽章の鐘にはびっくり。こんなに明瞭に聞こえたのは初めて。「怒りの日」のバックの低音弦は、ズン、ズンではなくズ・ズン、ズ・ズンと引きずるタイプでブーレーズのと似てます。こちらの方が好き。ティンパニや大太鼓がかなり奥から前へと響いてくるのが良くわかります。全体にウィーンフィルらしく演奏者に委ねたところが成功の原因かな。すごく繊細で、響きの美しさでは幻想交響曲の中では一番です。ロミオとジュリエットもチャーミング。これが１０００円とは、掘り出し物のＣＤです。

トータルの出来栄えとしては、デイヴィス２度目のコンセルトヘボウ管弦楽団の方を上位としたい。ウィーン・フィルの音色は、この曲には渋すぎて終楽章の乱痴気騒ぎが、炸裂しきれていないように思える。
