4.0 out of 5 stars ストーンズにも影響を与えた偉大なクリエイター, 2005/12/10
日本では一般的な知名度は、同様に５０年代から活動を続けていたチャック・ベリー、リトル・リチャードよりは低い彼だが（自分も映画「ブルース・ブラザーズ２０００」で初めてその名を知ったクチだが）、このアルバムには彼が最も精力的に活動していた５０年代から６０年代初期頃までの作品が一枚に収められている。

中には明らかにストーンズに影響を与えたであろうもブルース色濃い作品もあり（何も知らない人が聞いたら「ストーンズの真似をしている」という風に聴こえるかもしれない）、初期ストーンズに興味ある人にはお勧めの一枚だと思う。値段も安いし。でも解説と歌詞カードがないのは不親切だと思う。廉価版だからといって手を抜かないでほしかったです。

ROCKの創世記にチャック・ベリー・リトル・リチャードと共に歴史を作り上げてきたBO DIDDLEYのベスト盤　まずは収録曲を見て頂きたい、チャック・ベリーもそうですが彼の代表曲の殆どがROLLING STONESをはじめとする６０年代のBLUES　BANDにカバーされている曲ばかりではないですか、では何故にチャック・ベリーに比べ知名度が低いのでしょうか？恐らくチャック・ベリーの８ビートは用意にコピーできても、BO DIDDLEYの独特のビートはコピーし辛かったのでしょう、バンドの初期のメンバーは全員兄弟ですし、独特のバンド編成に、手作りの独特のギターから産み出される通称ジャングル・ビートは乗りを出すのが難しくチャック・ベリーの様に容易では無かったからだろうと思います、しかし、当時のBLUES　BANDの憧れであったであろうことは容易に想像がつき、カバーされた曲の多さもさることながら、PRETTY THINGSやBO　STREET RUNNERS・DETOURS(THE WHOの全身のバンド）日本ではBO　GUMBOSなどBO DIDDLEYをリスペクトして名付けられたバンドも結構多いことから彼の偉大さが判って頂けると思います。
